I must admit that when I read your post as it was, referencing Karianne’s comment, I too thought it was rather harsh. However, when I went to the original post and read that line in context I could see that it was clearly meant satirically. To take it out of it’s original context for the purpose of unjustly chasting the poster shows either a) ignorance of the use of sarcasm and satire in the original post or b) someone is simply gunning for Karianne and will twist her words against her. Talk about uncharitable!
Certainly I would not try to unjustly chaste Karianne nor am I ignorant of satire…I just found the comment uncharitable and said so. Sorry you didn’t agree. :o

lol, my house is a mess today. I must admit this. :o

I’m a democrate as well Kariann, nice to meet ya. 🙂
Nice to meet you as well.

The future of the Catholic Church depends on us. I wish that more Catholics would do more in their parishes and less on-line bragging and complaining.

naww not playing the martyr just the minority
Well, for one, minorities get to live. Secondly, to “play the martyr” implies a motivation to seek pity and de-legitimizes the person in question. To be a minority voice simply means they have a different opinion. IOW, while you try to dismiss and belittle anamchara, she will have none of that.
It is “different” (to answer your question directly) because she will not allow you to define her. I applaud that.

It’s okay, I forgive you.
I’m sure that you’re a very nice person and you have a right to your opinion.

Oh and I bet you have a prejudice against anyone from CA?
Wow…it’s a pretty big state! Surely we can find ONE good person in California!

And you even have a clumsy Republican Governor who can’t ski without breaking his leg!

And who’s only famous cuz he married a Kennedy!

You can’t put me into your bourgeoisie “definitions” either, man.

It is not a matter of “defining” anyone, rather one shouldn’t think themselves the arbiter of charity.

A wise bromide, I must say. Let us remember it when the all the fine pickers find their little liturgical “abusive” nits.

Except that the pickers have been entrusted by the Church—with the responsibility of finding and rooting out the “nits”.

  1. Complaints Regarding Abuses in Liturgical Matters
[183.] In an altogether particular manner, let everyone do all that is in their power to ensure that the Most Holy Sacrament of the Eucharist will be protected from any and every irreverence or distortion and that all abuses be thoroughly corrected. This is a most serious duty incumbent upon each and every one, and all are bound to carry it out without any favouritism.

Only because I am responding to arguments that are all over the place.

Fine, but you are the one that seems to think they need to come in shootin’ and paint the town red.
ROFL!

I haven’t heard that expression in years!

I think that there’s is room for all of us and our opinions in the Church. That’s what I mean by pluralistic.
The Catholic experience of the 1950s Catholic in America is not the only one that counts, there have been Catholics for centuries, in all parts of the world.

Naww because he made movies where he killed people and blew things up and that’s how we define “real men” 😉 go figure

There is room for various opinions-as long as they are within the bounds of orthodoxy. However, as the Holy See has constantly stressed, “anything goes” doesn’t fly.
The Catholic experience of the 1950s Catholic in America is not the only one that counts, there have been Catholics for centuries, in all parts of the world.
Quite true, there have been Catholics in other parts of the world for centuries. Where do you think we got our traditions from?

Julianna:

If you think that it is far fetched that someone spirituallity may be injured because of an errouneous opinion, you are very terribly mistaken. Do you know that most children especially in relation to religion believe what they hear? So when someone says something that has the potental to be damaging, and the person takes it as truth and follows it, then years later realizes it is wrong. Real spiritual damage is done by that persons opinion.

Oh and fire and brimestone was removed in VaticanII and getting our catholic ducks in a row, not quiet as important as healing those damaged souls. Remember we are called to seek out and find the hurt and lost souls and shepard them into the church.

scared
Why are you scared?

You can’t put me into your bourgeoisie “definitions” either, man.
And just who did, Andrei? Show me the post, if you can. I came into this fray late and might have missed it.

Since you’re highlighting the word “define” which was a key point in my recent post, I’ll take this as an answer to that post. My response to that is “You don’t really expect anyone here to believe you weren’t trying to label anamchara, do you? You can try to wiggle out of now but your words are there for all to see. And where are you getting this “arbiter of charity” bit? Rather than just cut-and-pasting, can you give me post numbers so I can read them in context. (I don’t want to go back and read this whole thread from post #1 if you don’t mind.) Thanks.”
