So! We all know that Jesus is the Messiah. Some believe he was not, others believe he was. He fulfilled all of the requirements.
  • He was a Man, like us in all ways.
  • He kept the Law of Moses perfectly; he did not sin.
  • He was married, spiritually (i.e., the wedding of the Lamb of God).
  • He did not die until his task was completed.
  • He established a heirarchical Church (by the way, “Chuch” is Greek for Synagogue).
  • He was a Jew, and yes, he was circumsized.
  • He is King.
  • He will come again in glory to perfect the world.
There are other thins too, but I can’t for the life of me remember them right now (it’s 5 AM where I am). Anyhow, he fulfilled all of the messianic requirments, so why do people doubt he is the Messiah?

From what I understand, Hashem told me that if a Jew follows Christ he is damned to hell for eternal damnation. I guess this is what they teach you in Hebrew school…🤷

Personal understanding. You may recall the Jews where hoping for political salvation when Christ came. While we can see what Christ did as fitting many looking for what he did not do will find it. It comes down to how you view things.

I do not disagree with the point you’re trying to make (otherwise, I would not be a Christian!!), although there are some of your examples that don’t hold water.
Like the one above.

I don’t know the etymology of the word “church”, but I know what word is translated with “church”, and that is ἐκκλησία = “ekklæsia”, which literally translates as “assembly”.

“Synagogue” is actually Greek - “συναγωγὴ” - “synagågæ”

My mistake. I apologize. Thanks for correcting me.

I want to get Judadism’s official opinion on the qualities and requirments of the Messiah. That way I’ll be show how Jesus fulfilled them, in the light of reason and Scripture.

It’s been discussed on a dozen threads already and based on your first post, I doubt a discussion on this would be profitable to anyone. If a requirement of the Messiah is that he be married, and you can somehow intrepret Jesus as being married, then there’s nothing in scripture that you won’t see Jesus as fullfilling.

That would be true only if there was no wedding of the Lamb of God.

I do not believe Jesus married an animal.
Jesus Himself is named the Lamb of God and bridegroom in the New Testament.

God married Israel in the Old Testament, and Jesus married His Church in the New Testament. This is so simple. 🙂

Thank you for clearing that up. God bless. 🙂

Yes, sure.

He kept the Law of Moses perfectly; he did not sin.
Yes, sure,he did and did not tell any one not to do the same.
  • He was married, spiritually (i.e., the wedding of the Lamb of God).

I do not understand about marrying a lamb. I wish there was less metaphors, symbols and more real words used…

He did not die until his task was completed

. Yes, he did not die until his task was completed. But when his task was complete, he died and that was the end of him here.

He established a heirarchical Church (by the way, “Chuch” is Greek for Synagogue).

I am not sure about that. I feel that he had to go away in a hurry without showing his face to his enemies (jews and Romans). Church is Greek. Christ is Greek. The word Christain is greek and so many other things are in greek language where there were so many pagans. Jesus never preached to them. But his religion (the real truth) became transformed and translated into greek. Why was that? And the system of Three gods in One?

He was a Jew, and yes, he was circumsized.

That is right and very good. Alas nobody follows in his footsteps. All use his name only. But they do not like to follow his examplary life. he was baptised too.

He is King

.
He may be a king in the next world. he said himself that his kingdom was not of this world. So it appears that he was a king in some other world which mankind has not yet seen or proven.

He will come again in glory to perfect the world.
Let him come. We hope and pray that he does not get the same bad treatment that he had during the first visit. But he also told his friends "You wll never see me again until you say ‘Blessed is the One who comes inthe name of the Lord’ ".
There are other thins too, but I can’t for the life of me remember them right now (it’s 5 AM where I am). Anyhow, he fulfilled all of the messianic requirments, so why do people doubt he is the Messiah?
Please try to remember all those things. But at the same time give some consideration to what is written in the reply above to each of your statements. No hard feeling.**

Valke2, although scripture in the NT plainly states Yeshua(who is the Lamb of God) will marry his bride, the Church, I believe it has not happened yet, but will.

Looking back at the OT scripture, God wanting to marry his people is no stretch.

In Jeremiah 31:31, the God of Israel announces the New Covenant. If you read it closely, that is the wedding proposal God made to the House of Israel and Judah. He even signed and dated it. But look closely at what God says in verse 32-
**It will not be like the covenant
" I made with their forefathers
when I took them by the hand
to lead them out of Egypt,
because they broke my covenant,
though I was a husband to them, "
declares the LORD. **

The God of Israel clearly states he was a husband to them, but they broke his covenant.

This New Covenant cannot be broken by them, they can only accept or decline. And yes, he still plans to be a husband to them. To decline is to make the choice yourself to be cut off from the one who gives life, God

Valke2, Jeremiah 31:31-37 is your wedding contract, signed and dated by the God of Israel. Read it over for yourself. The details can be found in the NT. Though this contract is offered to the House of Israel and Judah, when Yeshua came, the offer was extended to the whole world. Your God created all man, and he wants all man to be reconciled with him. Through your people, Messiah is the Glory of Israel and Light to the entire world.

So read your contract. Also note the price that was paid for you wheter or not you accept this contract, or proposal. The price is the highest anyone could ever pay. The price was the life of an innocent man, Yeshua.

If you accept, there is a cup waiting for you to be lifted and drank from to consumate the deal.
**Matthew 26:27-29
Then he took the cup, gave thanks and offered it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the new covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. I tell you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it anew with you in my Father’s kingdom.” **

May the God of Israel aid you in your understanding.

**Since the topic is “The Messiah”, it would be better that I present the Muslim point of view about the Jesus, the Messiah.

The Muslims believe in Jesus that was the Messiah, the promised messiah of the Jews. The Jews were waiting for a messiah. They also knew that another person (Elias) should come before the Messiah.

The Jews were looking (waiting) for a Messiah who would bring freedom and would bring them back the throne of King David. They also knew that he would be from the line of David.

But the Jews were under the subjugation of the Romans. They did not like that. They wanted to be free from that. They were expecting a strong man (Messiah) who would come and rid them of the Roman subjugation and bring them back the old glory.

But when Jesus came, he came as poor simple (spiritual) fellow without any apparant power or arms. His teachings were also of modesty and love. So the Jews were dismayed.

In addition to their wrong notions about the promised Messiah, they were corrupt people, not practicing the teachings of the Torah in the right spirit, without understanding the real gentle message.

In short, the Muslims believe in Jesus that he was the right person who was the promised one. The Jews rejected him. So they suffered for the next 2000 years (till now).**

I am sorry if I was wrong. A religious person will take note of these things. The Messiah was promised to the people. He arrived at the place at correct time. He worked hard for the people and told them that he had come from God. he had a message and a policy for the people.

The people were so blind that they worked hard to punish that man of God. They tried to kill him. That is not a minor matter. God can take account of that. This is a subject of history and old scriptures. It is nothing new or impossible.

Suppose that the Jews were not punished for their bad treatment of their Messiah. But then we have to look for some other reason for their bad state for a very long time. They suffered until recently and they have now been successful to get rid of the bad condition by their good deeds.

You can perhaps tell me what was the cause of their downfall for a very long time. Thanks. I do not mean any ill feelings to the Jews or the christians.

I dont say just jews suffers punishment but all of us do.
for God is justice. throughout the Bible we can read and see examples of what happen to anyone of us who dissobey the laws of God. and i love God for that.

**Ezekiel 3:20-21, “If righteous people turn from living the right way and do wrong, I will make them stumble, and they will die. If you don’t warn them, they will die because of their sin, and the right things they did will not be remembered. I will hold you responsible for their deaths. But if you warn righteous people not to sin, and they don’t sin, they will certainly live because they listened to the warning. You will save yourself.” **

I found this interesting Q&A on EWTN:
**Isaiah’s Prophecies and Jewish Interpretation
Question from on 04-11-2008: **
Hi:
The Book of Isaiah contains approximately 153 prophecies that emerged 750 years before Jesus Christ. Jesus painstakingly and deliberately fulfilled every one. Do you have any insights why Jews do not identify this unmistakable link and accept that Jesus Christ is God and Savior? I do not understand how any serious Jewish scholar nor religious follower can carefully study Jesus’s fulfillment in connection with Isaiah’s prophecies and conclude that Jesus is merely a great prophet.
Thank you.

**Answer by David Gregson on 05-09-2008: **
Three reasons occur to me why the larger number of Jews rejected Jesus as their Messiah. First, He didn’t meet their expectations as a political Messiah, who would restore the Kingdom of David by military means. Secondly, they didn’t expect the Messiah to be God in the flesh, which is what Jesus claimed to be. Thirdly, He undermined the authority of the Jewish leadership, motivating them to seek His death.
Having rejected Jesus, the Jewish scholars were bound to interpret prophetic texts in ways that didn’t seem to point to Him. There had been a long running disagreement among rabbis over whether Isaiah’s Suffering Servant prophecies should be applied to the Messiah. If they were messianic, they seemed in conflict with prophecies foretelling the glorious reign. The Essenes solved the problem by looking for two Messiahs. The majority of Jews interpreted only the glorious prophecies as messianic, and applied the Servant prophesies instead to Israel, suffering for the sins of the world. What no one seems to have anticipated is that the Messiah would come twice.
It was Jesus who revealed that He would both suffer and come again in glory. But He revealed this only to those who believed in Him. The rest were left to their own devices, how best to interpret the Prophets without condemning themselves for their unbelief.
I’m going to research this to see if it is true what David says. 🙂
