“Animal trials almost always precede human trials but Moderna managed to convince the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to give the green light for conducting human trials while animal tests are still ongoing. The animal trials began at the same time as the human trial began recruiting participants back in March.”

Politicians have long said a candidate vaccine for COVID-19 might be available in 2021, but this means taking shorcuts to the laborious testing process for medicines.

I am being tested tomorrow, due to odd symptoms. If I have it, then I may (or may not due to immune suppression) generate the necessary antibodies such that I will not need any vaccine, good or bad.

Are you saying that the animal tests , as of November, are not complete?

Or are you only saying it was unusual to run them concurrently with human tests?

It’s irrelevant now as long as all the testing is completed as of now…if it is.

the fact that human subjects early on took extra risks is an ethical issue but
are you saying there is something deficient or incomplete about the end result?

I’m saying that I made a mistake about the vaccine not being submitted to animal trials. I’m guessing we understood the article the same way.
 
A lot of people out of fear of mainstream bias look to these alternative news sources and are suckered in. As Catholics, we have a great resource for cutting edge questions of bioethics. It should be everyone’s first source on such issues.
 
I will likely take the first one of Pfizer or Moderna available also. I know I won’t be in the first group to get it, as I reckon they will give it to all the health care workers, people in nursing homes, first responders, teachers, and other high risk groups before they have any left for me, so it will be a while before I get any.

I won’t take the other ones that use the fetal cells according to the bioethics sites.
