So then you think that Satan himself can prevail? I don’t. That is why it is interesting stuff. I am not worried about what man or the devil himself will try. God will prevail
No, I don’t think that Satan will prevail…I know that God will (& I find your question re same a little silly). However, I do think Satan’s capable of taking a whole lot of people down with him before he’s “out for the count”. 😉

Even St. Francis of Assisi did the same thing for the church of San Damiano.
No - St Francis repaired its bricks and mortar because it was literally falling to ruin. With his own two hands - he the son of a merchant who’d probably never done a day’s physical labour in his life.

I can’t imagine it was particularly beautiful when he finished, and is still very bare today, as these pictures show sacred-destinations.com/italy/assisi-san-damiano.htm - apart from the few frescoes and decorations, which apart from the crucifix before which he prayed were almost certainly done after his own time.

Has anyone else here been thinking of Marlon Brando in "Apocolypse Now"everytime they look at the title of this thread? Or am I the only one?

“The Horror.”

Ahahaha! 😃

Actually, when I first saw the title of this thread, it reminded me of that scene, yeah! And Marlon Brando’s expression on that picture, which is the expression of one who has seen whatever “Horror” might be, can pretty much be compared to the one that any good Catholic will do when they actually face this awful church.

As a matter of fact, I’ve just arrived in Lisbon, from Oporto. I went there to spend a lovely and relaxing weekend with my friend WH1988, and I had the opportunity to see, with my own two eyes, that Horror. I didn’t dare to enter; I thought that I had already seen enough… It is, indeed, as ugly as you can see in the pictures posted by WH1988, which may not be very clear, because they were taken with a mobile phone’s camera.

Yeah, Jesus must really love us to dwell there, that’s all I can say.
Alright, I’ll stop already.
