Thank you for all your replies - they really gave me the support I was looking for - and thank you for your prayers.

I am sorry if I came across as arrogant when I said I didn’t think she would go to heaven - obviously it is up to the grace of God if any of us enter heaven. I only meant that, whilst my father was alive she was lukewarm about God, but now she is completely non-believing - and that this made me really sad. It was an expression of sadness and regret rather than a judgement. I don’t think I evangelize her too much, in fact although I converted 20 years ago I have always been quite reticent about talking about God but on the other hand I cannot not defend the Church if she is being unfair - surely we are called to defend our faith?

I see her most days - I pick her up after dropping of the kids at school - and take her back home when I make the afternoon school run. I am trying to get her on the internet to give her something to do - and even thought about getting her to write a blog so that she can put all her thoughts in writing. Maybe it will be a cathartic experience for her.

I do prayer for her daily but I should obviously do more - would having a mass said for her be appropriate? - and I light a candle every week at Mass for my dad (although I don’t tell mum that!)

Anyway thanks again for all your prayers and good wishes - just having someone to air things to helps 👍

First of all ,let me thank you for holding firm to your faith and your love and devotion to God even in your difficult situation with your mother. You are a minor miracle! Parents like yours are a trial (I know I had one) but you may be her only hope in reconnecting to God. I would recommend that you say a Divine Mercy Chaplet and/or rosary for her every day. She doesn’t need to know this because it would probably just enrage her and cause you trauma. But please pray for her as those prayers are powerful. Pray for your deceased dad also. You may not see a change prior to her death but don’t despair.
Talk to your priest also and be sure to draw boundaries about respect for your religious beliefs so you are not being abused. Ask others or social services for help with your mother so that you are not worn out in spirit or body.

Of course you can have Masses said for both of your parents. (Don’t forget your dad!)

I have read a book called “Into the Light” by John Lerma. The author spends his life with people who are getting ready to die. It is not a book about near death experiences, but rather a book about amazing things that happen right before people die. Many of them see angels. This book includes stories about non-believers who become believers in an instant.

The book has some parts that seem a little far-fetched, but I think it is worth reading.

No human being knows who is going to heaven or not. I hope people would stop speculating and start praying. Only God judges, we can’t even being to speculate. There’s too many factors that are known only to God, it is not a cut and dry process where we can even make a decent educated guess. That is why God said we should not judge, but love one another.

Constantine - Some folks are indeed privileged to be given insight/info that they are ‘Heaven bound’ - a number of the Saints, including St. Teresa of the Child Jesus/Lisieux, “I will spend my heaven doing good upon earth”.

ps. That is what I would/will wish to do - and also to help those souls in Purgatory by appeals to the Divine Mercy.

And some people are given the time they will die just shortly before their death. My mum told me on April 1st two years ago that she had 1 week maybe 2 before she goes. But she was gone in 4 days. I guess God or her angels told her naturally. I really believe everyone here on earth is going heaven-bound. Hell is in the spirit world too. It is a part of heaven for there we preach to the spirits. That is what Jesus did before he took his seat on the right hand side of God. He had to go to Hell to preach to those souls and to fulfill all righteousness. I think this is in the book of Acts. Not sure.
