I suspect there are Mormons at the Post Office nowadays. May be having some problems because I am on Sandra Tanner’s mailing list and receive “Magnificat.” Ah, well, they think they need to post spies everywhere, that is their problem. :roll_eyes:
 
LOved the Fulton Sheen story, BUT going to other churches is a GREAT and foolish risk; not only to your soul but also for the Catholic Church as you engender the RISK of Sacndal for the RCC.

I think you missed the part where I said I dont go every Sunday and I suspect that’s why I was treated the way I was because I don’t come every Sunday. And I never said they are urging me to not return 🤔

And I highly doubt I come off as evangelizing because they do all the talking…because it’s their church.
 
Yeah i agree. Let me be clear… i have not replaced mass with their services… I go to mass every Sunday and haven’t missed it. I visit their church after fulfilling my Sunday obligation and I don’t partake of their sacrement because it would be sinful for me to do so.

So you think they don’t know you have recently converted to Catholicism?

From my recollection, there is a special bible study group for ‘investigators’
 
God will pay them their dues for their blasphemies (Romans 12:19).

People with free will can avoid the near occasion of sin. It is a very wise attitude and one that the Church inculcates in every generation.

Well, if you know that your friends are planning to steal some liquor, you don’t go with them.

If you know that your friends are vulgar, you quit hanging out with them.

If you know that there’s going someone is going to watch an indecent show, you take yourself elsewhere.

Does that help?

Things like that are literally everywhere. Indecent imagery can be found on giant billboards on the highway, for example.

Short of joining a Monastery it’s nearly impossible to avoid “near occasion of sin”.
 
By the force of your will, you may avoid near occasions of sin. First, ask for the grace to recognize them, then avoiding them will be far easier. And yes, they are everywhere - this is the princedom of the evil one and, like nature, evil abhors a vacuum.
 
@De_Maria Some are avoidable, some aren’t . If you know that a certain event, venue etc is likely to include (maybe multiple) occasions of sin, but would like to go, then choosing not to go is avoiding a near occasion.

Some you stumble upon, and you deal with them in real time.

I too have attended a Mormon service, as well as a Seventh Day Adventist service and a Jehovah’s Witness meeting.

I did it out of curiosity but never was even considering actually thinking about joining.

The people may be friendly, sometimes to friendly I feel like. People say Catholics don’t converse at mass and it’s less friendly. That has nothing to do with it. For Catholics, Mass is a liturgy. It is holy. You can converse following Mass.

Just the opposite for Mormons. Walk into any Mormon chapel before the meeting starts and it’s noisy, people laughing and talking, catching up on the week. That is the first thing that struck me about mass. It is reverent, respectful and holy.
 
I want to make clear I am saddened by your experience ---- to put other Latter Day Saints in the same box, in light of the experience you had, is unfair to folks such as myself.
