What does anointing have to do with the subject? My point was that planten is saying that dead bodies weren’t approached. I know you know how an ossuaries were done so his statement is false. Your example is correct but not in the way you intended. It is a perfect example of what man says God couldn’t possibly do by trying to contain that which cannot be contained.
**Aren’t we talking about the women who went to disturb the dead with the purpose to anoint Jesus? That’s how anointing has to do with the subject.

Planten was right. According to Judaism, dead bodies are not to be approached and be disturbed.

God can do everything, just not what we have decided that He did or should have done.**

Oh now I see the connection thank you

I do agree that is why God became man even though man thought it impossible.

:blush:I don’t understand what you are trying to say here
What I believe Ben is trying to say is that because most crucifixction victims lived for several days, it proves that Jesus didn’t die in six hours. If I understand Ben’s position correctly, this is faulty logic. It is akin to me arguing that because life expectancy is 75 years in the US, no children who are younger than 4 years of age ever die.

Ah but there is the rub Jesus had not a proper burial and according to what I have read about Judaism it was a great obligation to see to it that even criminals were buried correctly. So it seems you are talking about after a proper burial takes place not before.

I do agree that is why God became man even though man thought it impossible.
**Assuming that Jesus was indeed dead, what was wrong with the tomb where he was put to rest in? What was it that made it an improper burial place?

And who decided that God had become a man in Jesus, Paul? See what I mean? It does not go that way.**

The text says that Jesus had been raised and not risen. There is an enormous difference between being raised and risen. By the will of God, one is risen. By the will of man one is raised. Jesus was raised, and there is no use to try to rewrite the text, because it won’t help.
It may be difficult for a Jewish person to grasp, but we hold Jesus to be the G-d of Abraham Isaac and Jacob incarnate. This prevails over any phraseology of being raised and risen. A few years ago I was conversing with a Rabbi friend on Mark 4:35. As the story goes, Jesus told his disciples; “Let us go over to the other side”. When they set off in their little boat, a great storm arose and the boat was about to sink. Jesus was asleep. When they woke Him, they said; “Master, carest thou not that we perish?” And He arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. And He said unto them, “Why are ye so fearful? How is it that ye have no faith?” And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another; “What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?”

Notice that Jesus said; “Why are ye so fearful? How is it that ye have no faith?” Jesus wasn’t fearful, He slept right through the storm. Why would Jesus mention faith? Faith in what?

What the disciples didn’t realize, is that He who said; “Let us go over to the other side” is the same One Who said; “Let there be light”.

**Do you have any idea about the kind of people who wrote the gospels? Hellenistic writers who had been former disciples of Paul’s. What did you expect them to write, if not Greek Mythology? You have forgotten that Jesus was a Jewish religious man, and that in Judaism there is no such a thing as a man being God. And I wonder how Christians still expect that such a Church be rooted in Jewish culture. Not a chance! **

Matthew was a excise man (tax collector), an eye witness to the Gospels. Mark was a Missionary with Barnabus and Paul, he was called a son by Peter. Peter was married, and some think that Mark may have literally been Peter’s son. Luke was a Greek physician. John was a Disciple / Apostle and first hand witness.
You have forgotten that Jesus was a Jewish religious man, and that in Judaism there is no such a thing as a man being God.
Sounds like you never read the book: “The Poem of the Man-God”.

Sure, Christianity is simply post Messianic Judaism.

Of course you’re wrong again, we all know that. Everyone here at CAF knows you are antichristian, many apostate Jews are. *Don’t *try to deny it, admit the truth for once in your life (which will soon be ending…and we all know you are so ready to meet יהוה ). 🙂 Have a ***great ***day and remember 1 John 2:22…this is your theme verse here at CAF. Here I’ll remind you,

1 John 2:22 “Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.”

Sorry, but you are completely mistaken. Jesus’ disciples would never write Hellenism or Greek Mythology..

Sounds like you never read the book: “The Poem of the Man-God”.

It must have been written by a Christian intoxicated with Hellenism.

Sure, Christianity is simply post Messianic Judaism.

Christianity is simply post Pauline Hellenism.

**You are sadly mistaken about the people who wrote the gospels. Jews would never write Hellenism or Greek Mythology before leaving Judaism. None of them ever saw Jesus. And that includes Paul. **

**This is an ad hominem personal attack. I could answer you in kind but you would not like. Since I would only make myself of your same kind, I am going to choose to ignore you. **

Actually that was my warped sense of humor surfacing, you said:
…in Judaism there is no such a thing as a man being God.
And I replied “Sounds like you never read the book: ‘The Poem of the Man-God’”.
Anyhow, it was written by a bed-ridden Carmelite visionary in the 1940’s who died in 1961. Afterward it was observed that she named several 1st Century towns and villages that were not discovered till after her death.
**You are sadly mistaken about the people who wrote the gospels. Jews would never write Hellenism or Greek Mythology before leaving Judaism. None of them ever saw Jesus. And that includes Paul. **
They were Jews. Matthew was Jesus’s Disciple / Apostle (so he had to have met Jesus). Strong cases have been made that Mark was Peter’s son (so it is highly likely that he met Jesus) and John was Jesus’s Disciple / Apostle (so he had to have met Jesus). I Googled a site that breaks it down:

lifeofchrist.com/life/gospels/glance.asp

Paul saw Jesus in a vision when he was off to persecute Christians. I’m missing the point on the Hellenism / Greek Mythology thing. I was combing through the posts, if you explained this before, could you direct me to the post?

The topic of the thread is: “The Mystery Of The Empty Tomb”, have you considered the mystery of the Shroud of Torin?

Yes I know who wrote the Gospels. I won’t repeat what others have already stated. Jesus was a Jew He was also God so the statement that in Judaism there is not such thing as a man being God was only correct until Jesus. Jesus changed the whole world. I would like documentation of your claims. Ben you never do document what you say. I don’t want just your opinion.

We call Jesus’ resurrection in the rosary the second Glorious Mystery. Mysteries by definition are not to be fully comprehended. You have found a flawed translation. Other translations such as in the Polish language correctly translate it as is risen as does the original language. If you want to argue over one word do so in the original otherwise it is dishonest. Luke did not err who erred were those who translated his work. Jesus IS RISEN by His own power the power of God.

The gospels were largely written by Jews who were either eye witnesses or followers of eye witnesses of Jesus. I totally refute any modern day claim that they were not Jewish.

This whole invention of Paul creating Christianity is rubbish.

As i said much earlier. Read all of Paul’s letters. He is much concerned about being respected as an apostle and as a Jew of the times along with the eye witnesses. He in no way can be said to be a lone voice or claiming a superiority over the eyewitness apostles.

This whole rubbish comes out of an atheist agenda to downgrade any eyewitness accounts to the form of Christianity we have today. It is not co-herant.

You cannot have Paul in his letters appealing to be just as good as the eyewitness apostles that his readers follow without there being eyewitness apostles to follow.
You can’t have Paul claiming to have constantly met and have been aproved by apostles without there being a clear understanding of apolostolic teaching in the early church and among early Christians.

From Paul’s letters we can clearly see that there is apolostolic authority in the early church, and it was from the apostles of Jesus who were of course Jewish and of course eye witnesses.

Claims to the contrary are completely irrational.

**Regarding the writers of the NT, they were not Jews and much less Jesus’ Apostles. Too Hellenistic to come from a Jew.

Regarding Paul, we have only his word that he had heard (not seen) Jesus in a vision. Since his word did not enjoy much credibility, anything he said was debatable.

Regarding the Shroud of Tourin, there is no longer need to consider. It has been proved a hoax. **

**We are on the same page with regards to personal opinions. Show me evidences in the Scriptures that Jesus used to handle anything pointing to Jesus that he would be God, and we are in business. I am not interested in your decision to accept the opinion of men who decided that Jesus was God. Show me in the Tanach, and we will take it from there.

Regarding being dishonest because I have pointed to the difference in the semantic of rising and being raised, charge the four gospel writers who were the ones who committed the blunder, not me. You are the one with a Masters Degree in Linguistics. I am sure you know only too well that I am right. If the translator, being a Catholic person, didn’t see this blunder, there is division or stupidity in the Church.**
