I’m wondering if people are afraid of what they don’t understand. I know a lot of people here have talked about one of the hallmarks of New Age is vibrational healing. If String Theory turns out to be correct, and apparently, many if not most mathematicians and physicists do believe it to be true, they just haven’t been able to figure out how to see the strings, and the math mostly is compatible with the theory, then vibrational energy will prove to be true. I do not have the intellectual capacity to completely understand String Theory, but I know some mathematicians who go to yearly conferences learning about it. I believe Einstein also thought this to be true, but couldn’t prove it during his time.
God is way more complex than any of us could ever even begin to understand. Why be so afraid of new discoveries? I once heard on the EWTN program Women of Grace, they warned people against many different types of “healings” including acupuncture, because it is an Eastern medicine, therefore, not from God. It is first of all ridiculous, because even Western medicine now recommends people to use it and have been able to give a Westernized explanation as to why it works. And this: Didn’t God also create the people in the East? Is it not possible that he gave them an intellect to understand some things that maybe people in the West haven’t been able to see or understand? If an atheist makes a new scientific discovery that will help us in our everyday life or health, do we say that it can’t be so because he is an atheist therefore it must be a trick from Satan and not from God? If people in other Eastern countries are worshipping false Gods, that is OUR fault for not evangelizing them! Everyone is hardwired to be drawn to God, they just don’t realize who or what really is the one and only God.
Don’t discount everything! Should you be doing the spiritual side of yoga, no, but even Western medicine tells people to do the exercises. Reiki is also suspect, but don’t discount all of Eastern medicine.
