Anyone else want to attend Mass at one of their churches? Their masses seem absolutely fantastic.

For example:

It seems they do a wonderful liturgy. The structure of the Mass is, in my opinion, is one of the best of any rite. I would love to go to Mass at one of these Ordinariate churches. The music is ridiculous, in a good way. I think it’s an excellent compromise between the EF and the OF, along with some of its own Anglican flavor. I like. I mean, look at where they put the “peace.” Before the Offertory. What a genius idea!

Anyone else hoping that this will have a “gravitational pull?” 😃

We’re taking back what Henry VIII stole! And for the better! Just another reason liturgy fascinates me.

It’s been around for some time in the UK. It will take some time to get Ordinariate churches fully established, but we are working on it. My parish overlaps five Anglican parishes and the vicars of two of them have converted to Catholicism along with a sizeable number from their congregations. Since there is no Ordinariate church in the immediate vicinity, the lay people have joined our congregation.

One of the Ordinariate priests worked in our Parish while the Ordinariate found him a post elsewhere in South London. He took an interest in the notes I had originally prepared for our altar servers on Procession of the Blessed Sacrament and Benediction. These now appear to have become the standard work on the subject for the Ordinariate - without Concordat or Nihil Obstat. When the Sacred Congregation for the Liturgy find out, I wonder if I’ll be burned at the stake by my Diocese or the Ordinariate:eek:

I used to an Anglo-Catholic church and love their liturgy! There are a couple in the DFW area, so I’m pretty fortunate.

Wait, I’m confused, are Anglicans coming back?
Indeed they are! The Holy Father established a canonical process for Anglican parishes to be part of the Church within a personal ordinariate. Before this, Blessed John Paul II had established a Pastoral Provision for former Anglicans to continue some aspects of their liturgy within the Church, but our Holy Father has evolved it one step further for former Anglicans to let their tradition breathe and thrive as a dedicated community. 🙂

This is a most exciting development indeed! It is not the first, of course, since the Personal Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham was established first, but every new personal ordinariate founded is an opportunity to bring more Anglicans back into the fold and current Anglican Use Catholics to live and pray in their respected tradition.

I would certainly look forward to attending one of their Masses! Their rich tradition would certainly contribute much back to the living, breathing liturgy of the Church. As of the present time, the Personal Ordinariate only exists as an entity and does not have any parish communities under its purview. However, I have little doubt that, as we speak, our current Anglican Use brothers are applying en masse for membership.

God bless Fr. Jeffrey Steenson (Ordinary of POCSP) and Msgr. Keith Newton (Ordinary of POOLW). Let us all pray for them as they strive to build a fruitful community centered around God and their continued success in inspiring their former brethren to return the the Mother Church. This is true ecumenism bearing fruit. 🙂

Under the pope’s plan, Anglicans who become Catholic will be allowed to keep some of their heritage in liturgy and other areas. Married Anglican priests who convert can stay married and be ordained in the Catholic Church, an exception to the Vatican’s celibacy rule. Married Anglican bishops, however, cannot retain that position, and will serve the Catholic Church as priests.

Well pretty soon the Catholic Priests will be allowed to marry, several years.

Quest:

Do angelicans believe the host turns into the flesh and blood also, will their priests need special training now. thank you.🙂

Some of them: the one’s that didn’t want to follow Canterbury down the road of -]women priests/-], gay bishops, rampant moral relativism, and cultural irrelevance.

We have a parish in our diocese, and I’m going to take my kids to mass there from time to time.

Unfortunately most of these qualities are common in today’s Catholic Church.

These Anglicans have the same belief in transubstantiation, however, the priests (in the Diocese of Calgary at least) have to be ordained in the Catholic Church.

I think, yes, eventually Catholics will once again have married Priests…and the increasing closeness to the denominations which already have married clergy will probably hasten this.

Yes, there are some scriptural arguments that Priestly celibacy may be beneficial in certain instances…but I also don’t think abandoning the policy, at least in part, would be exclusively negative.

I am VERY happy to see this happening. 👍

I would love to attend a Mass at an Anglican use Parish or one in the Anglican Ordinariate when that gets rolling. Heck, if they just bring their music and disseminate it to all of the parishes in the USA, I would be thrilled. 😃

You’ve got it backwards. Married men may be ordained into the priesthood, but ordained men may not marry.

The first ( married men becoming priests) is certainly theologically permissable. Several sui juris Catholic Church do so.

The second, have men who are currently priests entering into marriage (while retaining the clerical state) is NOT permitted, nor would I expect any pope to actively consider it.

It is both theologically probelmatic, and would make a HUGE stumnling block for any reunificaiton with the Eastern Orthodox.

I wouldn’t be so confident. Former Protestant ministers have been allowed to be ordained into the priesthood while married. The Eastern Churches have always made it possible for married man to be ordained into the priesthood. There is no new development in this regard. Furthermore, we shouldn’t expect such exceptions to affect the main body of the Latin rite. Dispensations apply only to specific people, not to all.

Also, no priest, former Protestant or cradle Catholic, East or West, has ever been allowed to marry while ordained in ministry. There are no dispensations, save for laicizied priests. This will definitely not change.

As the other poster pointed out, married men can be ordained but single, ordained men cannot be married. There is a huge difference. I think the single example I can think of where an ordained male gets married is when a married permanent deacon with children loses his wife to death. With the Holy See’s approval the deacon can remarry, largely for the good of his kids.

I’m not sure why you’re saying that as a reply to me. I have mentioned that explicitly, in no uncertain terms.

Are you sure you didn’t misread my post?
