Sons of God are the descendants of Seth. Who began to invoke God. Daighters of men are descendants of Cain. Lamech seventh generation from Cain was the first polygamist.

Children of both cultures would be familiar with both cultures and that would be a great advantage since only they would know the whole of mankind. Hence, men of great renown. Giants

This would explain much that still goes on today and is still to happen…
The Holy Scriptures do not teach angel/devil-human hybrids (physically/sexually).

“The sons of God” = those that claimed to follow God, and accept the sacrifice of Genesis 3:15, calling upon the name of the LORD.

“the daughters of men” = those that were not calling upon the name of the LORD, merely children of fallen Adam, in his image, unregenerate women.

Basically the co-mingling of believers with unbelievers.

For more on who the “sons of God” are in Gen 6:2,4, please see Luk 3:38; Gen 4:26, etc., and for the daughters of men, see Gen 4:16-24

Compare with Gen 6:2,4

Abraham and Isaac in Gen 24:3,37

Esau and Jacob in Gens 26:34,35, 28:8,9 [comparing to Jacob in Gen 27:46, 28:1,6], 36:2

Isaac and Jacob in Gen 27:46, 28:1,6

Jacob and Hamor in Gen 34:9,14

Moses in Exo 34:15,16

See in Deut 17:17

Balaam in Num 25:1,2,3

See in Jdg 3:5,6,7

Samson the Judge in Jdg 14:1,2,3

See the Chronicles in 1 Chr 5:24,25

Ezra in Ezr 9:1,2,11,12

Nehemiah in Neh 9:2, 10:28,29,30, 13:23,25,26,27

Solomon in 1 Ki 11:1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8

Many “Sons of God” “looked”/“saw” [“saw the daughters of men that they [were] fair” and “took them wives of all which they chose” [Gens 6:2]] and “beheld” [Just as did Samson, “she pleaseth me well”, or King David who went after Bathsheba, the wife of Uriah the Hittite and his friend, through covetousness had Uriah killed in action “from the roof he saw a woman washing herself; and the woman [was] very beautiful to look upon” [2 Sam 11:2, 12:9] and Solomon who “multiplied wives” and “loved many strange women” and all Israel who took of the “daughters of the land”], and then “lusted and coveted” and so were ensnared being “Vex[ed], Beguiled, To Commit Trespass Against The LORD, Commit Fornication, Eat things sacrificed unto Idols, worshipped idols” [Num 25:18, 31:16; Rev 2:14]:

Jud 1:11 - Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain , and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core.

See also the words of Jesus, as it was in the days of Noah and Lot:

Job 21:7,14, 22:15,16,17; Matt 24:37,38; Luk 17:26,27; 2 Pet 2:5, 3:3,6.

In the greater overall picture there is a like message and call for the “people of God” also today to “come out” of “Spiritual Babylon” [just as God had done with physical Babylon; Jer 51:9; Isa 52:11] that “great Whore” [Rev 17:1, 19:2]:

See 2 Cor 6:14,15,16,17,18; Rev 18:4.

For “giants” of men, after the flood, see:

Gen 10:8,9, 14:5, 15:20; Num 13:32,33; Deut 2:11,20,21, 3:11,13, 9:2; Jos 12:4, 13:12, 15:8, 17:15, 18:16; 2 Sam 5:18,22, 21:16,18,19,20,22; 1 Chr 11:23, 14:9, 20:4,5,6; Isa 17:5, 45:14

For “men of reknown” see:

Num 1:16, 16:2, 26:9; 1 Chr 5:24, 12:30

When the Israelites spied out the land of Canaan, they reported back to Moses: “We saw the Nephilim there (the descendants of Anak come from the Nephilim). We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them” ([Numbers 13:33]. This passage does not say the Nephilim were genuinely there, only that the spies thought they saw the Nephilim ?

No one knows for sure who in [Genesis 6:1–4] “sons of God “ where ?
They could have been Fallen Angels.

Also Jude verse 6 tells us, “The angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their own home—these he has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great Day.”

So do some demons still roam the earth ?

675 Before Christ’s second coming the Church must pass through a final trial that will shake the faith of many believers.573 The persecution that accompanies her pilgrimage on earth574 will unveil the “mystery of iniquity” in the form of a religious deception offering men an apparent solution to their problems at the price of apostasy from the truth. the supreme religious deception is that of the Antichrist, a pseudo-messianism by which man glorifies himself in place of God and of his Messiah come in the flesh.575

676 The Antichrist’s deception already begins to take shape in the world every time the claim is made to realize within history that messianic hope which can only be realized beyond history through the eschatological judgement. the Church has rejected even modified forms of this falsification of the kingdom to come under the name of millenarianism,576 especially the “intrinsically perverse” political form of a secular messianism.577

677 The Church will enter the glory of the kingdom only through this final Passover, when she will follow her Lord in his death and Resurrection.578 The kingdom will be fulfilled, then, not by a historic triumph of the Church through a progressive ascendancy, but only by God’s victory over the final unleashing of evil, which will cause his Bride to come down from heaven.579 God’s triumph over the revolt of evil will take the form of the Last Judgement after the final cosmic upheaval of this passing world.580

(the descendants of Anak
“Anak” (just a man) , and descendants, and ancestors:

“Anak” is found in the following verses:

Num 13:22, 13:28, 13:33

Deut 9:2

Jos 15:13, 15:14, 21:11

Jdg 1:20

The “Children of Anak” are found:

Ahiman; Num 13:22

Sheshai; Num 13:22

Talmai; Num 13:22

The “Father of Anak” , named “Arba” is found in the following verses:

Jos 14:15, 15:13, 21:11

“Arba”
was the ruler of “Kirjath-Arba” [ “City of Arba” , aka “Hebron” ], found in the following verses:

kirjatharba, 6 times

Gen_23:2 (2), Jos_14:15, Jos_15:54, Jos_20:7, Jdg_1:10, Neh_11:25

City of Arba[h], 3 times

Gen 35:27, Jos 15:13, Jos 21:11

The “City of Arbah” [ “Hebron” ], lies in the “plain of Mamre” :

Gen_13:18, Gen_14:13, Gen_14:24, Gen_18:1, Gen_23:17, Gen_23:19, Gen_25:9, Gen_35:27, Gen_49:30, Gen_50:13

“The plain of Mamre” was in the “Land of Canaan” :

Gen 49:30

“Mamre” , was an “Amorite” :

Gen 14:13

The “Amorites” were descendants/children of “Canaan” :

Gen 10:15,16

“Canaan” was a son of “Ham”

Gen 10:6

“Ham” was a son of “Noah” [ “Noe” ]:

Gen 5:32

“Noah” [ “Noe” ] was a son of “Lamech” :

Gen 5:29,30; Luke 3:36

“Lamech” was a son of “Methuselah”[“Mathusala”] :

Gen 5:25; Luke 3:37

“Methuselah” [“Mathusala”] was a son of “Enoch” :

Gen 5:21; Luke 3:37

“Enoch” was a son of “Jared” :

Gen 5:18; Luke 3:37

“Jared” was a son of “Mahalaleel” [ “Maleleel” ]:

Gen 5:16,17; Luke 3:37

“Mahalaleel” [ “Maleleel” ] was a son of “Cainan” :

Gen 5:12,13; Luke 3:37

“Cainan” was a son of “Enos” :

Gen 5:9,10; Luke 3:38

“Enos” was a son of “Seth” :

Gen 4:26, 5:6,7; Luk 3:38

“Seth” was a son of “Adam” and his wife, “Eve” [Gen 2:23; “the mother of all living” [Gen 3:20]]:

Gen 4:25; Luke 3:38

“Adam” [ “the first man” 1Cor 15:45 ] was the “son of God” :

Gen 1 & 2; Luke 3:38

And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth , and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation; Acts 17:26

This is the book of the generations of Adam . In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made he him; Gen 5:1

Now these are the generations of the sons of Noah , Shem, Ham, and Japheth: and unto them were sons born after the flood. Gen 10:1

Therefore, since Anak, was the child of Arba, and Arba founded the city of Arba[h], and the City of Arba [KirjathArba, Hebron] was in the plain of Mamre, and Mamre was an Amorite, which was in the land of Canaan, which were named for the persons which settled there, being the son of Ham, the son of Noah [Noe] … which was the son of Adam, the first man, and Eve, who was the mother of all living, we can see that “Anak”, was thereforean Amorite descendant of Canaan, etc.

That’s a great post and makes things a lot clearer thank you.

So do some demons still roam the earth ?
Devils are very much stuck here on earth since Calvary (Rev. 12:10-12). They are corporeal beings, not incorporeal, but their celestial flesh is not as the terrestrial flesh of man-kind, they are a differing kind of creature, unable to pro-create, nor multiply after the physical manner, nor have seed, nor able to bring forth, etc:

1Co 15:38 But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own body.

1Co 15:39 All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds.

1Co 15:40 There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another.

Devils (aka fallen angels) have been seen on earth, and the occult world even has paintings of them (they look glorious to behold), just as the Heavenly angels have been seen. Gabriel, and others are witnessed in Genesis, Daniel, Gospels, Acts, etc. Lucifer and his description is seen in Isaiah 14 and Ezekiel 28, and elsewhere.

They could have been Fallen Angels.
No, they could not have. Read the context from Gen 3-6. It explains who they are.

However, before considering the immediate context, let us look and see why the term “sons of God” in Gen 6:2,4 cannot be referring to the “Holy Angels” of the LORD [those 2/3 who had remained loyal]:

These Angels (the loyal "angels" [they of the created heavenly host], like Gabriel ( "that stand in the presence of God" Luk 1:19)) keep the Commandments of God and hearken to His voice did not leave their "first estate" (Jud 1:6), their arch-office positions, as did those who rebelled; ’the cast-out angels’ [Satan and his ilk] [Jud 1:6] and therefore the passages cannot be referring to them in the least:

Psa 103:20 Bless the LORD, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word .

The term "sons of God" in Gen 6:2,4 also cannot be referring to any of the "rebellious" cast-out angels [those 1/3 who rebelled with Satan/Lucifer] either, for nowhere in all of scripture, are they ever said to be able to procreate, generate; and neither are "fruitful" (Gen 1:28, 9:1), or able to "bring forth abundantly" (Gen 9:7), nor are able to "multiply" (Gen 1:28, 9:1), neither have any "seed" (Gen 1:11,12,29, 3:15, 4:25) to bring forth "fruit" (Gen 1:11,12,29, 30:2), since angels are not made of "earthly" (2 Cor 5:1), that is to say, "terrestrial" (1 Cor 15:40) materials, but instead of "celestial" or Heavenly (not of this earth) (1 Cor 15:40) ones. If someone says otherwise, the burden of proof now lies with them, and they need to produce the exact and specific texts (in the mouth of two or three witnesses) that are explicit, otherwise they have lost their position before it even began, no matter how many other words come out of their mouths (which is nothing but the fallacy of “smoke screen”).

They could have been Fallen Angels.
Let’s begin with a few points:

[1] Heb 2:16 (For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.) , reveals that ‘the angelic hosts’ [the created beings of Heaven], presently do not have the same "nature" / "flesh" (“strange (hetero/foreign/differing) flesh (sarx/nature)” Jud 1:7) as humans do now (as Jesus also stated; Matt 22:30; Mar 12:25), and are not the same "kind" as human "kind" , which are both "male" and "female" . A "kind" on earth ( "terrestrial" ; 1 Cor 15:40), having an "earthly" (2 Cor 5:1) nature, can only reproduce after its "kind" , for this is the Law of "flesh", the Law of Heredity (Gal 4:4) and "seed" from the beginning: Gen. 1:11,12,21,24,25.

[2] Nowhere is it stated in Scripture, even once , that any of ‘the angelic hosts’ can "be fruitful", reproduce, "bring forth abundantly" or "multiply", have "seed" , bare or yield "fruit" , "beget" ; "increase" , have "children", or even have "loins" to so much as "pisseth against the wall" with, even though it is said in multiple places for this world’s earthly, "terestrial" , creatures ( "upon the earth" , "in the earth" , "therein" , etc): Gen 1:11,12,20,22,28,29, 3:15, 4:25, 7:3, 8:17, 9:1,7,9, 12:7, 13:15, 17:6 … and many more.

Procreation, according to scripture, as demonstrated by texts and by the specific words, exists among man-kind (amongst themselves; "male" with "female" of like/same "kind"; "marriage" existing among the "children" “of this world” (Luk 20:34) and no other) and with other creatures (of each Kind amongst themselves) of the "earth" .

Devils, “posses” (subjugate, take control of, of the mind), Mar 5:5; Jhn 13:2. They do not ‘pro-create’.

Since it is clear in scripture that the "angels" "neither marry nor, are given in marriage" , and the scriptures "cannot be broken" (Jhn 10:35) and are "profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness" (2 Tim 3:16), this automatically excludes all of the created angelic hosts [loyal or rebellious] from the context as given in Gen 6:2, for it says "they [sons of God] took them wives " ; and a wife only comes through marriage which is an institution specifically given unto man-kind, who is "flesh and blood" , by God Himself, so that the two [man and woman; husband and wife of the "one blood" (Acts 17:26), same "kind" ] become "one flesh" (which is not possible between man-kind and angel-kind; 1 Cor 15:39-41; Jud 1:7; Heb 2:16), as Gen 2:24 shows (Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.)

The tribe of Dan thing comes from Jacob’s blessing/prophecy about how “Dan will be a serpent by the road,”
More info from Yair Davidiy who wrote the book called The Tribes: The Israelite Origins of Western People

Today Dan is dominant in Denmark, important in Ireland and Wales, and is also present amongst the population of the USA

They could have been Fallen Angels.
2 groups of men:

[1] the faithful-repentant (Abel, later Seth), [those that "call[ed] upon the name of the LORD" in faith], called "sons of God" (Jhn 1:12; Rom 8:14,19; Php 2:15; 1 Jhn 3:1-2), being remade in "the image of God" (2 Cor 4:4)

[2]
an unfaithful-disobedient (Cain), [those who would stay out from the presence of the LORD], staying in the "image" of fallen "man" (thus; “daughters of men”), see Gen 5:3.

After being "mark" [ed], Cain "went out from the presence of the LORD" (Gen 4:16) and eventually had a great great great grandson named "Lamech" (Gen 4:18), who not only followed in Cain’s "way" (Jud 1:11), but increased in wickedness.

This is extremely important for understanding the later events leading to the Flood, for Lamech followed not only in the spiritual footsteps of Cain’s rebellion in murdering another (Gen 4:23), and even used the LORD as an excuse (Gen 4:24), but it is clearly detailed that he even married "two wives" (Gen 4:19) [the very first mentioned to do so, polygamy] which went against the original plan for marriage, which was given for man to have one wife (Gen 2:24). Many then followed suit, even going to so far that they did not ask counsel of God for whom to marry (As Adam, unto Eve), but instead they "chose" (Gen 6:2) whom they would, even murdering (filling the earth with "violence" ; Gen 6:11), and marrying multiple "wives" (Gen 6:2). The more spiritual line of Seth, which had been close to God, obeying their parents (Adam and Eve) and the Garden of Eden, before its walls (Gen 3:24), began to move out and intermingle and to intermarry with the spiritual line of Cain, who had left and became city-dwellers, and were thus influenced by their idolatry and practices, corrupting the people who had, "call[ed] upon the name of the LORD" (Gen 4:26).

The phrase "sons of God" , as used in Gen 6 is not ever meant to denote "angels" but is rather a term represeting those of man-kind who were "spiritually minded" (Rom 8:6), those who had "begun to call upon the name of the LORD" (Gen 4:26) [Acts 22:16 for similar ref] , like the prophet Enoch (Jud 1:14), who continued to be faithful and followed and "walked" (Gen 5:22,24) with the LORD in the "ways of God" (Deut 8:6, 10:12; 2 Sam 22:22; Psa 18:21) as did righteous Noah (Gen 7:1) who was a "just man" , "perfect in his generations" (Gen 6:9) and was a "preacher of righteousness" (2 Pet 2:5) [See Psa 119:172 for “righteousness”] . Scripture shows these being lured away, becoming unevenly yoked in marriage s (2 Cor 6:14) and multiple marriages and eventually apostatized fully, corrupting all flesh upon the earth.

The entire context of Genesis 6 begins and deals with "men" (Gen 6:1), "wickedness of man" (Gen 6:5) and not ‘angel-kind’.

Well, here’s my take on “The sons of God” and the “Daughters of Men.” When you read the genealogy of Jesus in Luke 4:38, it calls Adam the Son of God. This is because God directly created Adam. Now, Eve was taken from Adam, so she would be a daughter of men.

It’s my personal belief that all men could be called the sons of God and all women could be called the daughters of men because of the original creation of Adam coming from God and women coming from men. I don’t see any angelic involvement in the Genesis story at all and never does it say that the Nephilim were the outcome of a particular mating between the sons of god and the daughters of men. It just says that they were on the earth. Men were taking godless women to be their mates without any regard to faith, and this was highly displeasing to the Lord.

Spiritual beings cannot mate with corporal beings.

IMHO

Well Genesis 6 did have the sons of God that had sex with women, creating a hybrid race that causing exceeding evil in the world. God destroyed it in with the flood, saving Noah and his family.
I’ve been hearing Evangelical ministers teaching this lately as though this is a fact. I never heard this teaching at all when I grew up under the tutelage of various evangelicals and also went to an evangelical bible college. I actually think this is the strangest thing I’ve ever heard. No offense meant.

I don’t think this interpretation is correct. In Genesis the text points to sons of God and daughters of humans.
We know that there is only one Son of God. So in this context the Bible is clearly referring to something else.

There is one “only begotten” Son of God. Yet there are created sons and adopted sons also:

Thank you, I should have been clearer. The Catechism of the Catholic Church and thus the Vatican describes the ‘antichrist’ as

The supreme religious deception is that of the Antichrist, a pseudo-messianism by which man glorifies himself in place of God and of his Messiah come in the flesh.
http://www.vatican.va/archive/ccc_css/archive/catechism/p1s2c2a7.htm

So when I say nothing is set in stone, I meant, nothing of any of these ‘hypothesis’ is set in stone.

The Vatican has clearly stated the Antichrist is where man glorifies himself in place of God and Christ.

What is set in stone is that Christ’s return is suspended at every moment in history until his recognition by all Israel

One thought is that the offspring of the angels and women are demons. If some angels had offspring with human women, and those offspring died in the flood, they had nowhere to go. We know demons are real. Christ cast demons out of men. The demons certainly knew Christ and knew their ultimate fate. The question is, what exactly are demons and where did they come from? Are they the fallen angels? It wouldn’t seem so. Are these demons the offspring between fallen angels and humans? Possibly.

Some claim Jesus put an end to this discussion by saying in Matthew “For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven

An important part of what he says specifically mentions the angels in heaven. We simply will never know 100% in this lifetime all the answers. Could the fallen angels inherit different powers when they fell to earth like the ability to mate with women? It’s possible.

2 Peter talks about at least some fallen angels being bound in hell and darkness. This passage seems to go along with the book of Enoch.

My personal opinion is some fallen angels are free to roam the earth and some were bound in chains. In Daniel chapter 10 the good angel says this “But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days; and behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I had been left alone there with the kings of Persia”

We can all probably safely assume the kings of Persia aren’t mortals. We also know Michael is an archangel. That passage leads you to believe at least some fallen angels control parts of this earth spiritually and it took Michael’s intervention to assist this angel in reaching Daniel.

Paul famously wrote in Ephesians " For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."

We simply will never know everything going on in that spiritual world around us. We do know from Paul it’s there and always tempting mortals.

Are Nephilim actually offspring from fallen angels mating with human women? Possibly, but in the end it really doesn’t matter. It’s details that can’t get us any closer to God or Heaven.

It’s in the scriptures.

Genesis 6:
Now it came about, when men began to multiply on the face of the land, and daughters were born to them, that the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves, whomever they chose. Then the LORD said, “My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, because he also is flesh; nevertheless his days shall be one hundred and twenty years.” The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men, and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown. Genesis 6:1-4 NASB

The scripture says that the Nephilim were on the earth in those days and also afterwards when the sons of God took the daughters of men. It doesn’t say anywhere that the Nephilim were the product of this mating. It says that the Nephilim were already there when the Sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful. Angels and men cannot mate–it is not physically possible.
