Is God really omnibenevolent? I have been questioning that lately. I want to act just like Jesus, but if he is really omnibenevolent, why does he allow me to do evil things?

I would appreciate answers.🙂

IMHO, His creating you with the free will to choose good or evil is proof of his omnibenevolence. He could have created you with no free will at all. You choose the evil that you do, but God loves you so much that he gives you the means to get back into His graces. The hope is that you will conform your will to Christ and the desire to do evil will no longer exist within you.

You said you wanted to “act” like Jesus. Keep in mind that what you really want is to “be” like Christ, which means that your will is more like His…not just your *intellect. *This is something that requires grace, and God is so omnibenevolent that he gave us sacraments to dispense that grace you seek.

God gives us Free Will to choose good or evil.

It is up to us which we choose. God desires that we choose good. He is the Eternal Good. If we don’t, He respects our decision. If we did not have Free Will we would be slaves. Through the saving power of our Baptism we are made co-heirs with Christ.

Read Galatians Chapter 4.

God wants us to love Him of our own Free Will and to choose Him. Obedience v. Disobedience

Out of every human creature (female, at least) Mary was the one God knew would always choose Good over Evil every time. That is why she was the one chosen to be the mother of God.

So, it can be done. The more we model Mary, the more we are an imitation of Christ.
