I am so happy to read a positive post from you on the start of the semester. Congratulations!!!

If your child has another such “homework with purchases” assignment - feel free to send in a note with his actual school work. The note says, “Please accept my child’s homework today. He will bring in our purchases on Monday. Thank you.”

Affirmed by this thread, I was able to make a definitive “no” to making dinner that night - and somehow the kids survived just fine on PB&J and cereal.

Very good - purpose of dinner - to eat - you accomplished the goal!!! Peanut Butter is a good source of protein!

just don’t get why they can give you a summer reading list for English, but not bother to let you know a certain model of graphing calculator is expected for a specific math course? )

Shrug it off and get the calculator is the right response… We can’t control how or when the teacher communicates, only how we respond…So glad it is not making you feel “run over” by the poor plannings of the teacher/school.

I also responded quite tactfully to a couple teachers who sent emails out via the automated system.

Very good for you… Its also good for them to know the problems with the automated mailings. If they choose, they can begin to fix the problems. You did great!!!

So, again, thanks. If nothing else, I am more aware of my choices and accepting of the results of those choices - and in general more at peace with everything than I was going in.

Yes, that’s the key… We can only control ourselves… when it comes to others, we find how to remain at peace within ourselves despite the things around us that we do not control.
