As far as dying for a person they believe is make believe? How many people died for the glory of Zeus, of Amun, of Yahweh? I’m sure none of those people had met Zeus, Amun or Yahweh…except maybe in visions

not the bit about Paul.

As far as greek mythology is concerned, I am not all that familiar with it nor its history. However, correct me if im wrong but I do not believe Greek mythology to be founded upon history but speculation. Am I correct in this belief?

I don’t think a person can state that Greek Mythology is based solely on speculation, or solely on history. There is certainly a historical basis for Greek Mythology.

I do not like the way this thread is going. I believe that some aspects of mythology were used by the authors of the gospels to show pagans that Christ was divine. It is not my intention to show that Christ never existed, and it certainly is not my intention to try to argue that the resurrection did not occur.

I agree with you that any of the events spoken of in the New Testament could have actually occurred. Jesus is divine, and could do whatever he wanted to do. It is certainly possible that he performed these precise acts and miracles.

when i posted those things i was not targetting you iwas targetting this

The book is based around the ‘truth’ of Christianity that there was never a historical Jesus

is there something I said that made you uncomfortable?

I have another question then are the people and demi-gods in Greek mythology historical figures? if nto then what is historical about Greek mythology?
