Ad hominem?

The thread topic is on the emoluments clause, how the president believes its “phony” and how he has not put anything into a blind trust.

These are people who never grew up learning that you can’t win all the time and you don’t cheat to win.
Do you refer to Trump’s golf game? His own caddy saw that Trump threw the opponent’s ball into a sand trap, and he takes several mulligans so he could “win”.

I don’t know what your views are, but in my eyes, anyone who cheats in a game is the worst scumbag of all.
Well, are we to take the word of a caddy? A golf game cannot be compared to the debacle taking place before our eyes right now with these democrat politicians
trying to oust a duly elected president because they can’t stand the thought of
losing the election next year and not being in power @Thinker_Doer

Do you think that watching Fox News would make someone well informed? Hoodwinking people is their specialty.
Actually, the NEWS division is not bad at all. The problem is OPINIONS division.
I always think of Fox as being an arm of the Trump Organization with Sean Hannity and Tucker Carlson being its main spokespeople. Real reporters like Shepard Smith feel compelled to resign.
CNN and MSNBC, NBC, CBS, NYT, and many other media outlets are arms of
the democrat party and collectively work together spewing false propaganda and spin to hoodwink many Americans. Sadly, for many people, it is easier to believe them than to look for the truth. @Thorolfr

Hardly anyone has addressed the fact that Trump believes parts of the Constitution are “phony” and apparently don’t apply to him.

The most important articles I’ve read in the Washington Post have just reported what Mr. Trump said in his phone call to Zelensky, what the whistleblower complaint said, and what the various witnesses testifying before several committees in the House have said, including Acting US Ambassador to Ukraine, William B. Taylor, the previous US Ambassador to Ukraine, Marie Yovanovich, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Ukraine and Russia, George Kent, US Ambassador to the European Union, Gordon Sondland, and others. Some of these sources have been made available verbatim and I can draw my own conclusions based on what I’ve read and it doesn’t look very good for the President. I wouldn’t consider what these various officials from the State Department (some of them appointed by Mr. Trump himself) have had to say to be “false propaganda” intended to hoodwink Americans.

He is on Trump’s “payroll”. He would be expected to lie on Trump’s behalf, and assert that Trump did not cheat, he won fair and square. And since he had nothing to gain from telling the truth, yes, I accept his testimony.

A golf game is inconsequential in and of itself. The important part is the total lack of morality, the fact that Trump cannot stand to lose even in such an irrelevant matter.

Of course the democrats want to kick Trump out of the White House, exactly as Moscow Mitch wanted to prevent Obama from getting a second term. That is understandable. What the problem is that the “trumpists” are willing to deny the Moon from the sky, since they have no arguments. The republicans who are not willing to go along with the lies of Trump are called “scum” by Trump.

Legally elected? So what? Being elected is not a carte blanche to lie, cheat, make deals with Putin, or Kim, or Erdogan like autocrats, it is not a licence to stuff his own pockets at the expense of the country,
to sacrifice our Kurdish allies to placate Putin and Erdogan. And that is what Trump is doing.

It is very sad, but true, that 98% of the republicans who get their primary source from Fox and friends would NEVER leave Trump’s side, no matter what. Even if there would be some impossible to deny evidence that Trump is about to sell the country to Putin… they would deny the evidence.

I guess the president shares your disdain for the New York Times (and the Washington Post). According to the Washington Post:
Trump turned his animus toward the Times and Post up a notch in an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity on Monday, saying, “We don’t even want [the Times] in the White House anymore. “We’re going to probably terminate that and The Washington Post. They’re fake.”

The White House has already canceled its subscriptions to the papers, according to several accounts.
That just shows how good those newspapers are. They’re shedding light on all his misdeeds and putting him in a bad mood.

No, actually that shows how bad they are. They are very good at spinning lies
and promoting whatever propaganda the democrat party tells them to say.

It is quite frightening and makes me feel we might as well be living in Russia.

Please don’t feel sorry for me and my kind. You should be concerned about
yourself and your kind.

I feel sorry for everyone who could be hoodwinked into denying the testimony of their own eyes and ears. It is sufficient to watch and listen what Trump does and says, and a few minutes later he denies. Maybe I should not do that. One of my many faults.

I could understand if his supporters would realize and admit his incredible wrongdoings, but would declare that they are no big deal, that his “positive” actions more than compensate for his deeds. It would only point to some differences in our value system, but it would be better than the total blindness toward his abominable actions.

I’m not sure which lies and propaganda you’re talking about. Do you think the testimonies of acting ambassador to Ukraine, William B. Taylor or Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Ukraine and Russia, George Kent or President Trump’s former top advisor on Russia at the National Security Council, Fiona Hill are all Democratic lies and propaganda?

And now it looks like John Bolton who recently resigned as US National Security Advisor is going to testify. Things just keep getting worse and worse for the president.

Things just keep getting worse and worse for the president.
And that is why the reg herring of a “Secret Trial” is raised.
The facts are bad.
Besides which, Aricle1, Section 3 of the US Constitution says, “the Senate shall have the sole Power to try all Impeachments…[but] no person shall be convicted without the Concurrence of two-thirds of the Members present.” The Senate can make its own rules about what kind of trial takes place there. The role of the House is more like that of a prosecutor, collecting evidence of a crime and then making an indictment that’s tried in the Senate.

Here’s something interesting in the Washington Post:
In an interview on "Fox & Friends,” Fox legal analyst Andrew Napolitano said that while he understands House Republicans are “frustrated” with the impeachment inquiry, their critiques of the process are off the mark because Democrats are simply following rules that were enacted by the Republican majority in 2015.

“I read the House rules,” Napolitano said. “And as frustrating as it may be to have these hearings going on behind closed doors — the hearings over which Congressman Schiff is presiding — they are consistent with the rules.”

When co-host Brian Kilmeade interjected, claiming that Democrats “can make up any rules they want,” Napolitano said that wasn’t the case.

“Well, they can’t change the rules; they follow the rules,” Napolitano said, noting that the rules were last written in January 2015, signed by then-House Speaker John A. Boehner (R-Ohio) and enacted by the Republican House majority.

“The rules say that this level of inquiry, this initial level of inquiry, can be done in secret. … Secret evidence doesn’t work in this world, so eventually there will be a public presentation of this, at which lawyers for the president can cross-examine these people and challenge them,” Napolitano said. “This is like presenting a case to a grand jury, which is never done in public.”

No they are gonna get real nasty for the Dems all the way up to Obama

I pray the truth will be revealed finally and that these people will not be too evil and too powerful to cause harm to anyone prevenring the process from proceeding.

If I had been lied to once, I definitely would not want to be lied to twice.
So don’t be too sure about the “secret trial” being a red herring.

Right now there is an investigation.

After the investigation, articles of impeachment are drawn up, voted in the house, and then sent to the senate.

The senate will look at the evidence, the president will be entitled to a defense.

Then they vote to remove or keep him.

That part will be probably be televised.

If he’s removed from office the next president will be Pence.

He won’t beremoved from office, the Dems know this. This whole sham is actually more about them attempting to deflect from the proverbial s@#$ that’s going no to hit the fan re their corrupt actions of the past there years.I’m with 7 Sorrows,I hope and pray that truth will out and no one bringing forth the truth is harmed in any way🙏
