We hear about it from time to time, but usually people just assume that any person accused of sexual abuse must be guilty and if they somehow are found not guilty then it must have been on a legal technicality or because of bias against the victim.
The system is always overcompensating . For decades, the victims weren’t believed. Now, a lot of people will always believe the victim regardless of how weak the evidence is supporting their story. There have also been cases where the evidence was too weak but the accused priest’s later actions or something else that happened later strongly indicated the accused was guilty.
I hope the priests who are truly falsely accused can offer up their sufferings to Jesus and remember that he too was falsely accused and wrongly punished.
