Has anyone on this thread read the article (the hated lecture with the quote that was taken out of context)the Pope spoke of? And that it was not his own opinion but a quotation to prove a point he was talking about. (to intelectuals who were discussing theological things, most of us would not understand)
Read also the Pope’s response and explaination about the talk he gave in which he quoted a Byzantine experor.

The Pope was not trying to provoke like the Danish cartoons. And who was it anyway that brought this “news” to the world?
Probable an anti European Union, anti Christian, anti Catholic person.

And do you know of the violant respons of the Muslim world? (what does it say about these Muslims themselves?)
Probably the Byzantine emporar encountered these kind of Muslims, he didn’t encounter all Muslims, certainly not the usual more moderate ones.

So, is Jihad, i.e. the struggle to save people, objectionable to you? If one struggles to save human life, and thereby preventing death of all mankind, how can Jihad be objectionable?

This is precisely one of the problems of the Islamic faith. In christian theology, “The End Does not Justify The Means”. This is the only thing that separates us from animals.

Your entire post seems to be an attempt to let Islam attempt to justify it’s violent behavior.

I have read most of the Quran myself (quite a few years ago). And let me tell you I came away from it with the most sickening fealing of violence I have ever had, after reading a book. The book was repleat with “crucify” them, cut their hands off, kill them. And not only that it was talking to the individual reading the book. Nowhere does our Bible command us individuals to go out and perform these kind of acts. But the Quran surely does.
