A notorious Muslim extremist told a demonstration in London yesterday that the Pope should face execution.
Anjem Choudary said those who insulted Islam would be “subject to capital punishment”.

His remarks came during a protest outside Westminster Cathedral on a day that worldwide anger among Muslim hardliners towards Pope Benedict XVI appeared to deepen.
The pontiff yesterday apologised for causing offence during a lecture last week. Quoting a medieval emperor, his words were taken to mean that he called the prophet Mohammed “evil and inhuman”.

Another voice from the ‘religion of peace’ heard from.

Calling for the murder of the Pope in public, that should be a criminal offense. We cannot let these Muslim extremists have “free speech” if they incite murder and violence.

How can they even dare criticize the Pope and then go and say these things?

Good point – they don’t believe anyone else should have free speech; why, then, should they?

That’s right, no one is allowed to shout “fire” in a crowded theater so why can you publicly call for someone’s murder? Insane, I think.

  • Re: several posts that follow.
Exactly right! Such extreme irrationalism does not really come under the classification of “free speech,” and hence should be banned as dangerous propaganda inciting murder.
One university professor called such Hitler-like ranting a form of pornography, the “Pornography of Power.” It is simply not possible to debate with such propagandists in any lucid manner.
    Well said.

It should also be considered a hate crime.

Pax vobiscum!

What a bunch of idiots. Why were they protesting outside Westminster Abby? That’s Anglican, not Catholic.

In Christ,

 :rotfl: :rotfl:

this is too funny!

I’m still laughing at the irony of it all anyways… and thank God for our Pope having the backbone to stand for what he said and NOT be afraid!!!

Uh, they were protesting outside Westminster CATHEDRAL, the mother Catholic Church in England. Not to be confused with Westminster Abby, the burial place of kings.

Nohome

So they react with violence if someone criticizes the violent elements practicing their religion? Sounds like my sister’s ex-boyfriend, who hit her when he found out she told a friend he was abusive (I wish I was making that up).

If they showed this much indignation towards terrorism as they do towards those who criticize terrorism, they would have a better chance to be seen as peaceful.

Blessings.

The only contributions to humankind that we are seeing from the Islamic world are violence and destruction and anger. It would be easier to absorb all of the abuse and threats and hate coming from radical Muslims if we were able to counter balance it all in our minds with some sort list of benevolent contributions coming out of Islam. But what of positive value do Muslims have to show the West?

Well, I was asking myself what Islam has to show for itself in our century except smoldering rubble and death, and then I came across this:

The Muslims must ask themselves what they can do for humankind, before they demand that humankind respect them.

badhairblog.blogspot.com/2006/03/that-list-of-top-20-muslim-inventions.html

That’s a quote from an extremely brave woman named Dr. Wafa Sultan. Apparently, she has spoken on Al-Jazeera despite the very real threat of death. If only more Muslims would have the kind of strength of Dr. Sultan to challenge their people to some cultural introspection.

As Catholic (and those Christian and Orthoddox) we tend to have restraint and patience when the world of non charistians critixe us.BUT you say ONE thing and IT IS taken out of contect, Muslim Extrimiest simple lose their minds andrun off in a temper tantrum hissy fit.

Their violence simply proves the point of the Pope’s quote from the 15th. century.

IF Islam is a religion of peace, then their history would not be ffilled with bloody ‘convert or die’ events.

Didn’t Christ tell about those who live by the sword will die by the sword?

Wow, deja vu. Haven’t we been here before? "And they shouted “Crucify him, crucify him”! In light of that, perhaps we should all just calm down. It would seem God has things well in hand. Didn’t we always know we would get here? Wasn’t it always predicted from the first? And what were we told to do when we did arrive in this place? Call for the deportation or arrest of the enemy, or attack the enemy or allow feelings of hostility to grow? Best to be just very calm and let what will be, be. One cannot be a Catholic without periodic shouts of hostility from the non catholic crowd. It goes with the territory. It really does not matter what the Pope said or will say. If a group of people desire to hate so they will. He could have said the sun rises in the east and gotten the same reaction under the correct circumstances.

We have to be careful about pointing fingers. One might wonder if Christianity was any sort of religion of peace given that, over the centuries, Christianity itself has spilled much blood, from the way some heresies were suppressed to the way Western Christians treated Eastern Christians during the Crusades to the way Jews and Moslems were treated by the Crusaders all the way up to the religious wars following the Protestant Reformation.
