The Pope

Johar,
You are not aware of two things concerning the Pope as Head of thee Church on eart.
1.The word POPE is a Latin contraction for the Latin word for Father. Since the Bible was NOT written in Latin but in Greek and Hebrew - you won’'t find Pope in the Bible.
( I assume you being Protestant, then you are Sola Scriptura, believing only what you read in your KJV)
2. Your KJV has in Matthew 16:v18, Jesus talking to Cephas (Simon or Peter) and telling him (Peter) "You are Peter(Gr. for the Rock) and upon this Peter (The Rock) I will build my Church.

Jesus is the Foundation of the Church.
Peter is the earthly Rock upon which Jesus’ Church was built, Peter is the representative of Christ on this earth. Peter is said to be the Vicar of Christ on earth. Who said that?..Jesus did!

I have to say, I thought that page was quite funny!
It was very funny and I needed a laugh today. 🙂

The words that went along with the pictures were so inaccurate and over the top that I have to believe that the site isn’t really intended to educate anyone, rather just a good link for people who want to start a lively discussion.

Thanks joehar, it was quite entertaining. Unfortunately, the other links you were given won’t prove so amusing but have some much better documentation. 👍

**Johaar, "**Yes i do, when you pray to graven images it is idolatry, When you pray to statues that is plain wrong. You can have a personal relationship with him, Call upon the name of the Lord and you shall be saved (really)…i dont have anything against anyone i am saying this in love "

Son, Catholics do not pray to a statue! You have a bit to learn. Do you have any pictures of your loved ones handy? Why do you have those pictures? I have a picture with all three of my sons in itt, but I knoww the picture is not them.Statues and pictures are the same, they remind you of those who you love…thats all. Catholics dont pray TO a statue!

I’ve seen this fellow on another thread attacking the Pope and magisterum, and saying that we should read the Bible and heed it, “before it’s too late.”

This guy’s a troll, pure and simple.

Trolls are:

misshapen

allergic to sunlight

very strong

very ugly

sufferers from halitosis

brutal

man-eating

about eight feet in height

armed with claws

not very intelligent.

PS - they usually live under bridges, and snatch unwary travellers.

FOR JOEHAR

***Idol (Webster)
**1. an image or other material object representing a diety and worshipped as such. 2. (in the Bible) a diety other than God.
*

I confess that one of my favorite things about becoming a Catholic is that now I can freely worship idols. I no longer have to sneak around and worship a hunk of painted plaster, but I can do it openly. It means a lot to me to be able to worship the God who created the universe in some, uh, *concrete *way. I spend hours on my knees worshipping my idols – lighting candles and burning incense. I’m never so happy as when I can pray to my plaster God and His plaster saints!

There’s a statue of Jesus in my bedroom with my prie-dieu (kneeling bench) in front of it, and I can kneel there and worship that plaster and paint to my heart’s content. Come on y’all, 'fess up, admit it. I’ve seen you kneeling in front of statues. The rest of you Catholics love plaster and paint just as much as I do.

Bye now. I’ve gotta get off the computer and back to my idols. A person can never have too many idols or worship them too much.

(Thanks to former Evangelical Mark Shea, author of By What Authority, for the idea for this spoof. His wunnerful webblog inspired me.)

Yep, I confess…it was the statue worship that drew me to the Catholic church!

Yeah, and you know what else? When the organ (and all other musical instruments) play, everyone should bow down to all our idols, otherwise we will throw you into the burning candles at the sides of our churches 😃

Dunmoose:
You are right.

You don’t know what idolatry is
Because Protestants have a different notion of worship. To them Singing and praying is worship.

Catholics on the other hand know that true worship includes the Eucharistic Celebration, the only pure offering and sacrifice to God.

joehar:
If this isn’t idolatry i don’t know what is.
Consider Protestant practice:

Consider whether it is idolatry to eat, to actually consume, a plain piece of bread and claim that it is a symbol for Jesus and that this eating of plain bread has some value for the spiritual life. This seems like idolatry to me.

John 6:63 “…the flesh profits nothing…”

Plain bread profits nothing and seems to be a form of idolatry.

And then we have our bibliolatry - the worship of the book , rather than feeding off the contents and worshipping the God it speaks of.

This is exactly the point I was trying to make to the poor OP - everytime most people read a post like his, they kind of picture someone in a plaid shirt, who needs dentistry, with a jug of moonshine sittin on a sagging front porch.

I was reading some older threads and came across some posts by one ‘joehardee’, who was banned (some of his posts were attacking the Catholic veneration of Mary). I wonder if this “joehar” is joehardee under a different screenname? :hmmm:

Poor sap–he can’t even think of a screen name that could disguise his old one. How pathetic is that?

Joehar seems awful silent lately… I wonder where he went off to? Perhaps he plans to return under another screen name (maybe this time something more original…:ehh:
