I’ve never had a problem with the art, decoration, architecture, or visuals of Catholic and Orthodox church edifices. I think if anything it’s a strength.
I will confess that I have a bit of a problem when I see some people get a tad over the top in their devotions to these images. I see people kiss the feet of Mary over and over, sometimes ten times in a row, bow, then stand up, kiss her hands, then put flowers in front of the image. I’ve seen some strange devotions. While it may appear obvious to us that it’s just a ‘representation’ of the saint or Christ, some people after a while seem to forget that and get a tad out there IMO…
