It’s strange how many people consider it necessary to grope at something that really isn’t good for them, you’d think they’d see the big picture, but they don’t see past the nose on their face. It has been driven home to me here, where it’s written the love of money is the root of all evil. If you look around your neighborhood, and take note those that continue to live beyond their means, trying to fill that empty void through material gain and to keep up wtih the Jonses, that their existances are pretty shallow and they are in bondage to these material things, for they gotta continue to pay them off with interest and it’s a constant matter of trying to top each other not being grateful for what they already have.
I think what you described here so well can be explained by one verse in the Gospel of John, chapter 12, verse 43:
*** For they preferred human praise to the glory of God.***

That was a jab at my character, nothing more, not apprieciated, I get plenty of negative elements simply for speaking the truth and making a stand when necessary as well, I do not bow down to the men that require me to puff up their ego’s in order to advance, in fact, I question them, which is quite the opposite,. as I recall, Christ did the same, shouldn’t you?

We can keep the church in check in it’s absolutes, but make it very clear, the ones doing so are competent in the matter, for I’d shudder to think what would happen if they were not…

Brian, you may want to read my post again. There was no jab at your character at all. I’m sitting here cheering for you at the wisdom of your words, not chastising you.

BTW, what makes you think I was in any way chastising you?!?

I’m reading my response and putting it into the context of what I had to deal with today and know now, I’m totally off into left field with my comment on it, at least for someone to understand seeing outside of my own eyes, I’ve been facing attacks on so many fronts at once, I naturally assumed this was just one of them so took accordance to therin, my sincere apologiese my friend, you did nothing wrong, it was I that transgressed here and I guess I gotta learn to take a step back, of which I’m earnestly trying to in life these days and learn to enjoy it as well as exchanging (name removed by moderator)ut from bright indivduals such as yourself.

Take care, Brian

God Bless you, Brian, and good luck as you continue your faith journey. I know that what you are feeling is rather traumatic (without understanding the details, mind you), and I hope that you remember what is the most important thing - Maintain your hope in Christ and His promises!!!

Why then are megachurches thriving in the states? I’m from Asia. But clearly, by asking this question, these so-called charismatic megachurches which preach the prosperity gospel are starting to take root and gain popularity in Asia as well. What is the reason for this rapid growth? And why are traditional churches like ours losing out to them?

Also, I have read that a US Senator is currently investigating a few of the more prominent megachurch pastors on their lavish lifestyles. When will the results be out. Will they be prosecuted if found to be misusing church funds?

Because people don’t want to face reality, they would rather have a candy coated, feel good about themselves approach to anything, this includes their faith. They are patted on the back, that’s what they are looking for, these mega churches are circus acts and their main goal is entertainment, not preaching the gospel. Refer to 2 Timothy 3 in that regard, it explains more upon their nature and what we are true believers need to do to safeguard ourselves.
