Why is the book of Psalms filled with constant mention of enemies? Almost every chapter in the book of Psalms is a prayer about enemies (asking God to punish them and for protection)? Is this because King David was being hunted constantly by King Saul? Is that why every Psalm is about revenge and enemies? I heard that the enemies in the Psalms is actually a reference to the devil - and so any prayer in the Psalms that is against enemies is actually really against the devil. Is that true? Please explain.

Many of the psalms were written by King David and it has been said that he had PTSD. He historically battled spiritually and physically, read up on the books which mention him. As a youth he also slayed Goliath, an amazing but scary feat. He took goliaths sword and severed his head afterwards and some say Goliath was also a nephilim. An amazing life with such spiritual strength he always went back to god for support and to show us all his inner feelings brough forward amazing psalms.

David probably had his earthly enemies in mind when he wrote the Psalms (the literal sense) but we can also use them against our spiritual enemies (a spiritual sense).

Have you sat down and read the Psalms?

Give them a read. There is much praise and rejoicing in them, beautiful poetry.

Yes, some of the poems are about battle because that was reality at the time they were composed.
