A majority of the American people seem to want border security respected and immigration limited to folks who jump through the bureaucratic hoops and do it legally.

But our “betters” … the elites in Congress (both parties) and the bureaucracy and … dare I say it … in the White House … seem to want unlimited open borders.

Very few other countries allow open borders. Maybe no other country.

Heck, there are some countries that don’t even want people to LEAVE. Much less enter.

This country has so many critics … so why is it that so many people seem to want to come here?

Cheap labor is a massive subsidy for the ‘haves’, who, in turn, put a lot of money in the political process.

Think about it, who really benefits from, say, an undocumented construction worker? The worker? Making low wages and being exploited for things like housing because of legal status? Or the contractor and the family buying the mansion?

1. The Government of Mexico … from the remittances that keep the country afloat.
2. The family of the illegal alien who receive the remittances and whose standard of living in Mexico is drastically improved. Whole towns have been fixed up with those remittances.
3. Politicians who encourage the illegal aliens with driver’s licenses and the opportunity to vote illegally.
4. The illegal aliens themselves for whom the substandard wages and crowded living conditions are above what they could make back home. And they know that many illegal aliens have stayed in the United States for decades and have dramatically improved their future prospects.

And illegal aliens don’t merely come from Mexico. There is a large population, for example, of illegal aliens from Ireland. From many countries. One of my friends is here legally and bitterly resents how freely people he knows flout the law. It took him a very long time to get his wife and family here legally while some of his acquaintances openly boasted of their law-breaking. He thought it was humorous that he ended up as head of a Democrat Party local organization while still an alien. And he is from an Asian country.

The oligarchs who run Mexico don’t care that they are losing their best people.

Mexico was a Catholic country until the Communist revolution.

We should be working to make it truly democratic, and make it the kind of place where their citizens don’t want to leave.

As a Christian, I would do everything possible to restore Christian /Catholic values to Europe and to Mexico. And to develop those Christian / Catholic values in other countries and continents as well.

As a layperson, I can support organizations such as Human Life International, which is very active in promoting pro-life values in every country. And I can make sure that I do not support groups such as Planned Parenthood. As a Catholic citizen, I can investigate to see if my tax money is being used to support Planned Parenthood and to use such things as the Freedom of Information Act and my Constitutional right to petition for redress of grievances to get my Congressmen and Congresswomen to cut off funding to Planned Parenthood.

The least painful way to get illegal aliens to return home would be to discourage employers in the U.S. from hiring the illegals. Remember that by any standard, the illegal aliens are being grossly mistreated here in the United States. Employers who do not follow the fair employment laws that pertain to citizens and non-citizens alike should be prosecuted. Employers are required to provide good working conditions and to pay at least the minimum wage in addition to paying mandatory taxes for disability and unemployment insurance.

Employers who knowingly use fraudulent social security numbers should be prosecuted. Federal Express and your local friendly ATM machine can verify someone in ten seconds. So it should be easy for employers to avoid hiring someone whose social security number is being used by fifty people. And the IRS and the Social Security Administration should also know in ten seconds if a particular number is being used by 40+ people …ya think??? … an actual case described by Newt Gingrich.

The United States and the Catholic Church should be working actively in Mexico for social justice. But they’re not. Why should small Mexican farmers be forced off their land by Mexican big wigs with “collective corporate farms” and then be denied compensation. If there was true Social Justice in Mexico, there would be no need for Mexicans to leave their homes and migrate to the U.S. under dangerous conditions.

Mexico is a wealthy country and always has been a wealthy country. It is a major oil producing country, for goodness sake. It produces every kind of agricultural product; everything grows there. It has long seacoasts on both the east and west … fish abound. Mexico should be a wonderful place to live … and was for centuries. Then all of a sudden, its people are pouring out.

Ten percent of the Mexican population is now in the United States.

Why is that?

But, realize that whenever the Communists take over, the first thing they do is to persecute the Catholic Church.

The second thing that happens is that the people flee.
