In my heart I know that heaven is our true home and that nothing on earth can compare to the joy and happiness of heaven. But why do I sometimes feel like still heaven cant offer the same joy and happiness as on earth? Ie: ultimate happiness on earth with oneself and oneslife, travelling, good food/drink, love, enjoying the company of people etc…I guess this is because im still human and still cant fully let go of the earth??

Why would you think you can’t do all the same things in Heaven that you do on earth, only better? About the only thing we do on earth that Jesus said we can’t do in Heaven is have sex, and that’s because it won’t be necessary there. I’m sure we won’t miss it either.

In Heaven you can probably travel and see the whole universe, you will be with other people (hopefully your loved ones on earth) and you will be in the midst of nothing but love all day every day.

Think of the nice things on earth as little previews of Heaven given us by God.

Also:
ultimate happiness on earth with oneself and oneslife
This doesn’t exist. There’s always going to be misery and emptiness mixed in there somewhere.

You are right. Everything on earth is temporary anyways…I remember my happiest and the saddest moments in my life…but it all goes away too. Nothing is permanent here…Thanks for the answer.

Life on Earth is a joke. Here are some things about Heaven (based on private accounts):

Millions of colors never before seen. Sight, sound, smell, taste, touch, thought: everything will be unbelievably expanded.

Music and silence. Music like you would never believe. Silence more peaceful than the best quiet summer night you’ve ever had.

Fellowship. We live in a corner of a corner of a corner of a corner of the world, and the most traveled people in the world die and barely experience a glimpse of humanity. In Heaven, one of the most interesting things are going to be people. And there will be zero shyness or reservation. Everybody will trust everybody completely.

The angels. We’re going to meet our guardian angels and all the other angels, and they’re going to be wonderful; some of the most interesting and fascinating people you would ever meet.

Good works. Once we’re in Heaven, we’re going to move mountains on earth.

Communion with God: unimaginably more ecstatic than the best, most rapturous earthly sex between spouses.

Learning & discovery, without a hint of monotony or boredom. Nature and creation will be unbelievably wondrous and beautiful.

Perfect love.

For everything good that exists on earth, there will be a counterpart in Heaven that is immeasurably superior.

Agree with all except this.
It is no joke. However transitional or difficult or imperfect It is compared to heaven, it ia gift from God.

It was an expression 🙂 Life here of course is critical because it’s where we decide what kingdom we want to belong to. Still, the scriptures refers to this “life” as a “prelude to life” or a “womb”.

Also, I think when we get to Heaven, we really are going to actually laugh at the things in the past that we thought were so important, or that we thought were so good or enviable.

I kind of liked St. Teresa of Avila’s description, that when we get to heaven this whole life is going to seem like one night in an inconvenient hotel.

While in this life, we are distracted by our senses and by other creatures. In Heaven, the Beatific Vision will surpass any joy we may have had on earth. The saints were very much aware of this.

All you do, do for the glory of God. There you’ll find heaven

Where did St. Teresa say that? I must have missed it.
Not sure where it is in her writings (I don’t think it’s in “Interior Castle”) but she’s been quoted as saying that repeatedly by Peter Kreeft, including in his “Handbook of Catholic Apologetics”, so I figure Peter is reliable. I actually first heard it in a homily at Mass.
