I must say, and I don’t mean this sarcastically, that is certainly one way to make going to Mass a more exciting mission than most people see it as.

I’ve seen some advertisements targeted at male Catholics that similarly try to play up the martyrdom and protection-from-danger aspects of the Church. I’m female, but even I find that mindset to be much more exciting than the average folks complaining about Mass being a snoozefest and the priest wearing an annoying color of socks or whatever.

I’ve been to five Masses this week at four different churches and I’ve yet to see this “female dominated activity” everybody claims is going on.

Every Mass has had at least one male priest, one of them had two male bishops and about a dozen male priests and male altar attendants, a couple more of them had male deacons.

I saw a grand total of four female altar servers, one female lector (the other lector at that Mass was a man) and a couple of female EMHCs (about an equal number to the male EMHCs) at these Masses.

The congregation at all of these Masses was somewhere between 1/3 and 1/2 male.

Not seeing a “female dominated activity”, sorry.

I have actually seen more women involved when I go to hospitals or law offices and see at least half or more women doctors/ nurses and women lawyers/ paralegals. I don’t see men shying away from becoming doctors and lawyers.

You have to just not read into the storys but how each profit was faithful to God. God told Abraham to sacrifice his only son Isaac, in the end Abraham was faithful to God and God stopped the sacrifice. So we must look at the big picture.
Job’s whole family was taken away but Job kept his faith in God. David commits adultery with Bathsheba. Then kills her husband Uriah by sending him to the front lines of the battle. Yet David repents and he writes some beautiful work in the book of Psalms.
The greatest thing that ever happened to humanity is the crucifixion of Our Lord. Here is and innocent man but yet devin also come to suffer and die for us.
Then we have the apostles and the saints that guided by the Holy Spirit some of them suffered and became Martyrs of the church.

But God does not grant wishes. You pray to him and Jesus, Mary and the saints. But the Mass is a unbloody sacrifice of our Lord that we experience every Sunday. So until you and others can realize that then it will be nothing but boring. The early Church Father’s new what they had I would suggest reading their work.
 
Well I would expect that if a woman enquired about becoming a priest she would be told it’s a male only vocation.
 
There did seem to be more female medical students when I was at uni but I don’t know if that was typical and it probably has more to do with more boys struggling in school rather than 17 year olds being trapped in the eww girls stage though.

In my experience there seem to be roughly equal numbers of male and female altar servers. Some parts of church are female dominated, Sunday school and volunteering for example.
 
Would you say that you’d understand if she stopped coming to Church as a result?
 
I’ve never felt a calling to be ordained so wouldn’t want to judge someone else’s feelings on the matter but I would point out that a parish needs both men and women to contribute.

Well I think there could be a need for some boy or men only groups at church if there is evidence that this is an issue. Don’t know if altar serving is the right time.

Every so often you do get a celebrity posting about their faith, Mark Wahlberg is one that sticks in my mind for talking about it, but others do sports stars mainly. However celebrities seem to just join the newest fad so not having celebrity endorsement really shouldn’t make any difference

My priest stands away from the microphone and mumbles. In four years, I have yet to understand one of his homilies. Now the deacon speaks clearly.
 
I am a practicing Cafeteria Catholic (there, I"ve said it), but I do attend Mass faithfully, usually on Saturday evening
  1. Phoned-in homilies. I attend several different Catholic churches, but I often hear much of the same old stuff I’ve been hearing since I was a youth, and I’m in my mid-50s. .
  2. FORCED SINGING AND CHANTING! I’ve been to several Catholic churches in different states, and the vast majority of the time, Catholics are obviously uncomfortable singing, so when it’s forced on us then many of us feel uncomfortable participating in the Mass. For example, back in the 70s and part of the 80s when I was growing up, there were Masses with music and singing and chanting, and Masses without. Nowadays it seems that almost every Mass uses this, and at almost every Mass VERY FEW are Catholics are participating (myself included, although some predominantly black catholic churches on Sunday mornings will have some rousing music and singing). Whenever I ask a priest or deacon about why the congregation is subjected to something that is an obvious element in the room, the standard answer of why the congregation doesn’t sing is “Well, they’re supposed to.” Yeah, that’s not an answer. How about this? Have some Masses where those who enjoy singing and chanting participate, and a couple without that singing and chanting? This is especially true during the responsorial psalm and at Communion time. I recall during my youth going to Communion and then quietly kneeling and praying. Not anymore! Why? Because some genius thought it would be a good idea to have singing at that time! Bad idea! Oh and here’s another bad idea: EVERYBODY DRINKS FROM THAT SAME COMMUNION CHALICE! This is after an entire Mass of hearing people cough and sneeze and clear their throats! God knows what’s being spread among the congregants! SMH! Yeah I know somebody wipes it off, but let me ask you something: If you happened to be at a restaurant with a bunch of strangers, and somebody was passing around a large goblet to drink out of, even if somebody else were wiping it off with a cloth which is still accumulating germs with each wipe, would you take a drink from that goblet? I certainly wouldn’t so why in the world would I want to do it in church? They say it’s “being part of the community” but I say, there’s no reason to share those germs. Go back to the old way of dipping the host into the wine and saying “Body and Blood of Christ”----NOT all changes are good or welcome!
  3. The Catholic Church is on a three-year cycle and we hear the same readings over and over again there is more to the Word of God than that three-year cycle we’ve all grown up with.
  4. Many of us were raised not to have a personal relationship with God through His Son Jesus Christ; we were instead taught to serve the Catholic Church! It’s much easier for people (men and women) to walk away from an institution when it no longer serves their needs, than it is to walk away from a personal relationship with a dear friend who loves us very much, especially when that dear friend is the Creator of the Universe who has an infinite love for us that is beyond human comprehension!
