Is there supposed to be some parallel between the subject of the article and the modern state of affairs with Catholicism in France today? Is there a repressive regime ruling France these days?

I used to go to mass there when I lived in Tours in 1974-75.

Secular Modernism (especially in Europe) doesn’t exactly have a love affair with the Church. They are still nursing on the poison of “Liberte, Egalite, Fraternite.”
