If I have committed a mortal sin and have not yet been the confessional (going on Saturday), can I still say the Rosary? I did earlier without thinking about this issue but want to know from now on in case it is not acceptable.

Thank you.

Yes, of course, Pray the Rosary. Mary is your mother, and my mother. She wants to encourage you and help you.

Only Satan wants you to be alone in your sin, thinking that you’re alone and without recourse to God, His angels and His saints. But you’re not, you’re just bruised up, waiting to be healed and helped through the wonderful Sacrament.

Recall the last line of the “Hail Mary” : “Pray for us sinners.” Prayers, especially the rosary, are suppose to be prayed by everyone, not just the sinless. Those who are in sin need to pray the most for strength and guidance.

Yes. You definitely should continue to pray, like the two others mentioned. God has mercy on all. Definitely go to confession as one should abstain from receiving the Eucharist under a state of mortal sin, but prayer is just as important in a state of sin as it is in a state of grace.

In His Love…

The Rosary is a sacramental, where as the Eucharist is a Sacrament. Perhaps you confused the two words and thought that praying the Rosary would be wrong when under the pain of mortal sin? Don’t worry, the Rosary is a powerful prayer which will bring your soul closer to Mary, our mother, given to us by her Son as he was dying on the cross for our sins. Pray always…God never stops listening…believe me, during my most unholy of days it was then He answered me most swiftly. It think it had to do with the fact that even though I had left the Church, I still prayed the Rosary.

As to praying while in a state of sin, consider the tax collector in the Temple. He prayed that God might forgive him, a sinner. He went home justified before God. It is precisely when we are aware of our sins that we should pray all the more. Contemplative prayer, such as the Rosary, is one form of prayer. Friday is the contemplation of the Sorrowful Mysteries, when Christ paid the price for our sins. That would be an excellent opportunity to pray the Rosary. If your schedule allows, 3:00 PM, the Hour of Mercy (When Jesus yielded His Spirit) is especially meaningful.

Christ’s peace be with you.

It is always proper to approach God thru Mary!
I suggest a good " act of contrition."
