Did not know John Edwards was Catholic, excellent.

It’s odd how God works isn’t it? This has the possibility of bringing people closer to Christ and Mary, and that’s always a good thing.
 
Wow! I’ve always liked John Edward and his Crossing Over show, but now I like him even more! 👍
 
He may pray the rosary, but his fraudulent ‘cold reading’ is theft from the people who pay him for it. Even if he were genuine, his practice of necromancy is clearly forbidden by the Catechism.

I have seen Crossing Over; anyone with a little practice (and the guts to fleece the public) can do exactly what Mr. Edward does.

I don’t think that having the rosary promoted by a fraud who takes advantage of the grieving is a good thing.
 
If I’m correct in what he did on his show, he clearly is practicing divination which is absolutely condemned. It’s spiritually dangerous and reckless.
My hope is that Our Mother will use his interest in the Rosary to bring him back in line with the Truth. I also hope he isn’t leading anyone into new-age practices or beliefs for his eternal sake. 😦
 
I still haven’t seen the video, but, just the explination here, anybody can pray the Rosary no matter what their faith…ummm…noooooooo… This makes it sound as though all religions are interchangible not to mention one in the same. I think this cheapens the Rosary to something that can be done if YOU believe it enough and not asking for the Holy Mother to pray to her Son on behalf of your request as you pray to Him yourself. Not to mention, what’s going to happen to the Our Father, The Apostle’s Creed, the Oh My Jesus prayer, the Hail Holy Queen, AND the St. Michael’s prayer. I think what this will do is basically allow the most hard core anti-Cats to say, “A-HA!! See? The Catholics ARE evil and they practice divination and ARE New Age & NOT focused on the one true God!!”…at least, this is how I see it. I’m not seeing him using this for good.

:confused: The rosary is a prayer. I would encourage anyone to pray it. Perhaps, for a non-Catholic Mary will intercede and the Holy Spirit will guide them to the Church.

Now, if they are praying to Mary for divination or as if she is equal to God, that’s a different issue.

Would the rejoicing that he says the Rosary be greater if he were a rapist or a devil-worshipper ?​

Saying the Rosary is worthless, if it’s compatible with such blatant superstition. ##
 
We all have seen examples of how people are able to do evil through our own free will and God turns it into something good. While John Edwards’ career is in conflict with his Catholicism, I can’t help but think that “unsuspecting” non-Catholics will be moved to seek more knowledge about the Church because they have watched his show. Statistically, there will have to be at least *one *person who reads his new book and converts because of their encounter with the Rosary.

(Did anyone else see the thread in which the theoretical possibility of The Da Vinci Code actually leading to converts was being discussed? A “lurker” signed up to just to say that Ron Brown was the reason for their search for more knowledge about the Church and their eventual conversion.)

AMEN! Edwards has always made a big deal that before his shows he prays the Rosary. This does more harm than any good it may achieve.
  1. He is a fraud. He cold reads people and as you note, takes advantage of the grieving.
  2. He connects the Rosary (to me, the most important of our Catholic devotons outside the Mass) to his fraud.
  3. If he is not a fraud, he is using the Rosary to cover his necromancy.

Distilling alot of the hooey out , John Edward’s publisher asked him to write a book on the Rosary --Not his idea!
Further he refused to promote the book by travelling and appearing in bookstores and on TV.

Edward was raised Roman Catholic. Although Edward later stopped practicing that faith, he has said he never stopped feeling connected to God and is still closely connected to his Catholic roots.
