The Rosary: Which mysteries do you prefer to reflect upon?

Which mysteries do you prefer to reflect upon?

(If multiple answers apply, you may vote more than one.)
 
I chose all of them. If time and circumstances allow, I find that I am much more enriched by the Rosary if I pray all 20 mysteries. The glory of the Lord’s plan of salvation is so much more evident when you reflect on the entire life of Christ.
 
I admit that at this particular stage in my life, I prefer to reflect on the Joyful mysteries because we have very young children at home and I like to reflect on Christ’s early years as it relates to our lives right now.

I also find myself admiring the Luminous mysteries, possibly because they are newer, but also because I particularly like the mystery of the Transfiguration. I like that particular mystery because it reminds me that St. Peter saw Christ is this glorified state and still denied he ever knew Him when Jesus needed him most.

Agreed here. This is one of the reasons why I am glad the Luminous were added. I admit that I do not pray the Rosary in the typical fashion (Luminous on Thursday, etc.). I generally pray the set of mysteries that applies to the situation before me:

Joyful - Reflecting on Christ as it pertains to my family, etc.

Luminous - Reflecting on Christ as it pertains to day to day life, etc.

Sorrowful - Reflecting on Christ as it pertains to times of crisis, etc.

Glorious - Reflecting on Christ as it pertains to admiration for all we have, etc.

When I have the opportunity, I pray all of the mysteries. When I don’t, I find myself praying the Joyful and Luminous most often.
 
I use all the mysteries on the days recommended, but since Gibsons movie I have been appreciating the Sorrowful the most.
 
I love to meditate on the 4th Sorrowful Mystery - Jesus carries His Cross - it gives me strength.

Sometimes it is so easy to get weighed down by your crosses, I know I don’t have more than others but some days it feels like it. When I meditate on this mystery, to carry my cross like Jesus carried His, somehow they just don’t seem as heavy anymore. And in light of the extent of Jesus’ Cross mine becomes insignificant. And I embrace it as Jesus embraced His.

“We love Thee O Christ and we praise Thee, because by Thy Holy Cross thou hast redeemed the world.”
 
I voted for Luminous Mysteries–Sorrowful used to be my favorite…I really love all of them though… I say all of them every day and the Luminous twice… one for The Holy Father and one my daughter-in-law and the “new life” she is carrying within her…
When I am called to say an extra, It’s usually The Sorrowful.🙂
 
I’ve always seemed to prefer the Joyful mysteries. To me, there’s something wonderful about seeing how even Joseph, Mary and–yes–Jesus took so much on faith. I suppose I feel that these mysteries present the most “human” side of all, and therefore I can connect with them best.

Hi, all.

I have all of the above. I prefer all the Mysteries. I don’t remember then by heart and have to have a little Rosary booklet by my side. That is if I don’t use the online “Virtual Rosary”.
 
I love them all but I have a particular affinity towards the Sorrowful mysteries.

I prefer the Joyful Mysteries for the simple reason that they are the only ones I can remember…
 
I prefer the Sorrowful Mysteries. Thinking of what Jesus went through helps me to put my own crosses/troubles in perspective. These mysteries also remind me of what a great love God has for me. They also remind me that Jesus went through awful suffering because of my sins, therefore I need to try to avoid hurting Him more in the future. Etc.
 
I voted for the Joyful and the Sorrowful Mysteries
The Joyful because I just love the Story of our Lord’s birth, and it’s the easy for me to concentrate; the Sorrowful because it pulls everything into perspective for me when things aren’t going so well.
 
I voted for the Joyful mysteries, but that is the answer for increasing my hope ( I counsel middle school age children so the finding in the temple encourages me to love that age child for their independence and potential for obedience :rolleyes: ) and to assist in issues with my four small children. But I agree with the previous writer that since seeing The Passion of Christ my meditation on the Sorrowful mysteries has become more humbling and helps prevent sin in my life. I love them all. I struggle most with the 4th Glorious mystery, not because I don’t believe it, but because I like to read my scriptures before meditating and the scripture referenced in The Essential Mary Handbook is Judith 13:23-31 oddly my Catholic Women’s Bible ends Judith chapter 13 at verse 20. If anyone has these scriptures I would love to know what they say. I am not a Sola Scriptura person, don’t worry, I just like to see the scriptural foundation for our Tradition whenever possible.

I chose sorrowful, but it was really a difficult choice. I generally pray them by the days as follows, unless I feel moved to select one by circumstances.
Sunday Glorious
Monday Joyful
Tuesday Sorrowful
Wednesay Glorious
Thursday Luminous
Friday Sorrowful
Saturday Glorious

When I pray a second rosary I will usually pray the next set in the natural sequence of Joyful, Luminous, Sorrowful, Glorius.

I have prayed all 15 on occasion, but have yet to pray 20 since the inclusion of the Luminous. mea culpa

👍 This is so true!! I play each scene from the movie in my head as I meditate. If I were to choose one mystery to pray, I’d have to say joyful because it’s so joyful. :clapping:

I love all of the Mysteries, though I in the past two years I have developed a particular fondness for the Sorrowful. I say this because I pray the Rosary using some tips from St. Louis Marie de Montfort. He adds a few words to the Hail Mary to help me remember what Mystery I am praying. About two years ago, I integrated the Stations of the Cross (and some of the 'Seven Last Words) into the final two Sorrowful Mysteries (the Carrying of the Cross and the Crucifixion and Death of Our Lord). It has been my intention to write those reflections to share with others, but my memory and other things seem to keep getting in the way. Maybe this post will get me going. I hope so!!

I follow the prescribed days suggested for each Mystery, regardless of my favorite.

But here is how I rate them in order for strongest in my mental prayer

1 Sorrowful

2 Glorious

3 Joyful

4 Luminous
