The scandal is not just in the past

The child abuse problem really does need to be looked at with percentages in mind. Crime cannot be 100% eliminated but big cities like Baltimore strive to reduce the crime rate. There will always be isolated abuse cases within the Catholic church but if these cases have been reduced by 90% due to church reform, the secular media should at least mention that reduction.

Hogwash! … The “secular media” have simply focused a big, bright spotlight on it.
That is an opinion more inclined with porcine detergent. They have pointed at straw. As I pointed out on another thread, the PA grand jury that they go on and on about have indicted two (2) priests.

I agree, Apparition of Our Lady of La Salette, Our Lady said:
"Priests, my Son’s ministers, priests, by their evil life, by their irreverences and their impiety in celebrating the holy mysteries, love of money, love of honor and pleasures, priests have become sewers of impurity. Yes, priests call forth vengeance, and vengeance is suspended over their heads. Woe to priests, and to persons consecrated to God, who by their infidelities and their evil life are crucifying my son anew! The sins of persons consecrated to God cry to heaven and call for vengeance, and now here is vengeance at their very doors, for no longer is anyone found to beg mercy and pardon for the people; there are no more generous souls, there is now no one worthy of offering the spotless Victim to the Eternal on the worlds behalf.

Its very important people realize that this has been going on for centuries. It still happens, but not everyone is telling the truth. The fact that there is even one credible abuse claim is too much however, and illustrates a problem.

Even if it has been only one priest who has been indicted in the last 2000 years since Christ was crucified, its one too many.

Yes. And even one apostle betraying Christ was one too many, but know the numbers and sticking to facts is still the path of honesty, and the only way to find solutions.

I just watched “Meet the Press” and they had a piece about the scandal. Chuck Todd said this is happening now, in 2018, not like in 2003 like we thought.

This is just wrong and Todd is misleading the public. These PA cases are old. Almost all of them. The secular, anti-Church media is pursuing an agenda to make it appear this is still happening. As my priest said this weekend, the fact that there are so few new cases in the PA report, shows the church reforms of 2003 are working.

I think it is time for the Vatican to put out a statement pointing out that the reforms of 15 years ago are working and the PA cases are almost all very old cases.

Chuck Todd should be investigated for chronic journalistic negligence.

I think Meet the Press needs a new moderator. Todd has spent too much time on MSNBC and as adopted the left wing, secular, anti-Church point of view on too many issues.

A part of me hopes it’s not true.
It’s true, and the worst of it has probably not yet come to light. You can’t fix anything until you acknowledge it’s there and a problem.

It’s a HUGE problem for the Catholic Church, but the majority of priests no doubt do not abuse. Still, everyone has to be more proactive. Even LE let the victims down.

Television is, for the most part, secular. Look at the first post. It is still going on. I think more cases will come to light in other areas of the country and the world. I think the Catholic Church is going through a great trial. Most priests do not abuse, but bad apples can harm good.
