You’re cutting the reader of the book or the watcher of the film out of your equation. While one reader may be underlining the “dirty parts of a novel” another is seeing the relationship between characters is really an indictment of the class system of a culture in that same novel. I happen to think the film 9.5 Weeks is fantastic study of what happens when someone allows another to push them beyond their emotional limits and surrender their will. Others would say it’s just soft porn. Could some of the scenes be chopped down? Probably, but then the film really loses its power. I have issues there.Which ‘shotgun definition?’ Nobody here is arguing that ‘David’ needs to put some clothes one. Michealangelo wasn’t decorating a gay bar, he was creating genuine art. Actual art that includes nudity isn’t necessarily porn and I was careful to phrase my definition that way. Porn is about intent, not just content. That’s why its hard to regulate judicially. But no lawyerly rationalizing will hold up in the court of God’s judgement. Stop engaging in it.
What I do have a problem with it’s the latest genre of horror films which some have called, and I think rightly so, torture porn which is just one scene of extreme cruelty shown in explicit detail one after another with no rhyme or reason.
By the way Michealangelo was most likely gay…at least bisexual.
