So what do you think of the movie? To me, its theology is pretty problematic and faulty.
Ditto.Read the book several years ago.Not net rested in the movieI didn’t I see the movie, but I read the book and I agree with you.
I started the book years ago, but did not finish it because I found it problematic. I don’t plan on seeing the movie.Ditto.Read the book several years ago.Not net rested in the movie
I read the book years ago and saw the movie tonight. I agree with everything above.I didn’t vote because there isn’t an answer that quite fits my thoughts.
I read the book, saw the movie. It is not a terrific theological story perfectly consistent with Catholic teaching.
However …
As a work of fiction, I enjoyed both - I didn’t LOVE them but enjoyed them.
The strength of the story, I think, is how God meets the main character right where he is. In that way, I think there is a place for this story for people who aren’t strong in their faith, who have sincere questions, or who maybe walked away from God because of a trauma or woundedness they don’t know how to handle.
It is an inviting story of healing and the movie repeatedly states that it is God’s desire to have a relationship with us.
Just my 2-cents; it isn’t for everyone, but I can see where it may touch hearts and start people on a path of seeking to know God better.
I love what you said above. My favorite part is that not only does God meet Mack where he is, but does it in a way that shatters his preconceptions about who God is. As someone else said, it has a great depiction of the Trinity.I didn’t vote because there isn’t an answer that quite fits my thoughts.

I would agree with this statement. It is (the book) a nice “feel good” story but without any rigorous theological considerations in it.I read the book several years ago. My impression was it was a well constructed story written from the POV of OSAS. I’m interested to see the movie to see if the film maker stayed true to that mode of Christian thought.
hope you will share your thoughts after seeing the movie.I’m going to see it later today. I’m not especially looking forward to it because I didn’t care for the book and I’m not sure if I even finished reading it. My friends want to go and invited me along so I’ll try to have an open mind and hope the movie is better than the book.
I watched the panel from New Catholic generation and that’s basically what they said too.I read half the book and put it down when they started basically saying **religion doesn’t matter. **If I’m not mistaken the book did have a good concept of the Trinity. I’m not interested in seeing the movie at this point.
I saw The Shack tonight and thought it was ok. I did love the message about how much God loves each and every one of us.I didn’t vote because there isn’t an answer that quite fits my thoughts.

I already posted. I felt it was so-so, but don’t really know why some people are so against it.hope you will share your thoughts after seeing the movie.
