Maybe, I don’t know… I would think that if He was tall, at least one of the Gospels would have mentioned it.

An image viewed from an angle greater than 90º. I was joking, actually. As to the size of the image, sunlight that is radiated is larger than the sun.

So do yo think the radiation from the Resurrection made Jesus appear larger?

Anybody, including po18guy have any other explanations?

If there were shorter men than average, there were also taller than average. Nevertheless, the entire subject is, um, shrouded in mystery. I am entirely content with that.

If Jesus wanted to do a miracle and impress his image on a shroud, would he not have done it in a way that could not possibly have a natural explanation? How come miracles always seem to need a dollop of faith to be believed? Surely the point is that they are done to demonstrate without doubt the intervention of God? Biblical miracles all seem to be things that could have no natural explanation. Post-biblical miracles always have a possible natural explanation - cancer cures, bad backs getting better, stains on pieces of cloth, liquifying substances, bodies not decomposing as much as others etc. Why don’t we get the multiplication of loaves and fishes, walking on water and the dead rising being seen by hundreds any more?

There is no natural explanation for the Shroud. Hundreds of scientists with many different disciplines have studied it over a period of decades and can’t explain it naturally.

I posted a link earlier showing how you can make one in your garage.

I went through the whole article twice and found no instructions on how to make one in your garage. I did find an article that purported to discredit but they failed because of their bigotry and one sided portrayal. For instance, they never mention that the figure is a photo negative. They did not produce one anywhere because they would not be able to duplicate all. They just make fun and make unfounded statements.

A must see - details never seen before - nails still in hands, strobic image, sash, chains and more - high resolution scanning
That is really amazing!!

They were able to detect a “tefillin” on Him, and a pendant, chains, nails. And the manner in which the image is seen, is actually multiple images imprinted by a cluster of intense light emitted from the body!

I think the Shroud is genuine. I dont place it on the same level as the Gospel, or Catholic doctrine, since its an object of uncertain origin. But the fact that it still cannot be disproved with certainty and continues to reveal unexplained aspects after an incredible amount of scientific subjection and scrutiny is making a stronger case for its authenticity all the time!

The manner in which it was achieved and the elements which we are beginning to discover (multiple images on top of each other, a tefillin, chains, nails in wrists, wound on right shoulder, etc.) seem less and less likely to be a forgery.

Its truly an incredible sign!

And it even seems fitting that a sign of this kind be given our times, which is so far removed from the days of public miracles and our Lord while with us. How incredible is it that He is able to give a miraculous image of Himself which can be opened up through the scientific knowledged we have advanced in!!!

If this is true then why aren’t there multiple copies of the shroud floating around?
Because who wants an image you can hardly see and that even when you can you have to make it into a negative.

That would not stop people from making copies.

An artist would try to improve the technique, or even use a different subject. After all people made death masks for centuries why not a full body death image.

Con men would have made them to pawn them off as relics.

There probably other reasons I do not buy your reasoning, but I really need a cup of coffee before I start the wife’s “honey do” list.

before I start the wife’s “honey do” list.
Good man! From a single mom of four: God bless you! You make a difference! Even if you are just changing a light bulb.

Sorry. Off topic. Just halfway through a week that appears designed to remind me that I can’t successfully do my list and the “honey do” list and remain sane. 😫 Woefully inadequate for the task.
