Setting aside his prepared remarks, the Pope emphasized the importance of obedience in the life of the religious and recalled the example of Christ’s obedience to God the Father.
“The anarchy of the will is the daughter of the demon, not a child of God,” he said. “The Son of God was not an anarchist.”
Pope Francis also called religious to be close to others, beginning with the elderly members of their own communities, to shun gossip, and to pray for vocations rather than lose hope in the face of declining numbers.
Misleading. He was not talking about political persuasion.
