What do the makers of this video have to say about the theory of intelligent design?

I’m not sure how we’re supposed to know what they’d have to say. 🤔

It seems like God gave us a great set of teeth, we just have crappy diets.

Why don’t you tell us what the makers of this video have to say about the theory of intelligent design?

I can’t really do that, Irishmom2. However, I will say that more than one Cheddar video has “Design Disaster” in the title.

I can’t access youtube where I am. So, a summary would be nice.

While we’re talking about design disasters, what’s up with having the breathing tube and the food tube crossing in the throat, and then going their separate ways again?

(. . . he asked while coughing up the coffee that he had just aspirated)

I am with you. @maxirad please provide us with a summary
The video discusses the evolution of teeth. It basically says that the Industrial Revolution has been a significant problem concerning why human beings have had so many problems with teeth. (Think of diet.)

Why is it titled as if there’s a problem with human teeth, then?

Sounds like if anything, the argument is about a problem with the diets humans have chosen for themselves. Not a problem with the ‘design’ of teeth 🤔

In the beginning, human teeth were impervious to acidity. Then the serpent introduced Diet Coke. Eve saw that the Diet Coke was good, so she offered it to Adam, who had a beer belly and was trying to cut calories, and he was likewise tempted.

Now the world has cavities.

My Yorkshire Terrier just blew their theory. He’s an animal, but all but three of his teeth had to be pulled because of cavities. Seriously, we are all made from fragile earth clay in our human bodies, but our eternal design is probably perfect. Maybe we won’t have teeth in our spirit bodies because we won’t need them.

I’m still disturbed, at the age of 34 and married, that the sewage system and the procreation system cross lines. Don’t get it.

There are some animals that have windpipe and throat physically separated.

They can breathe only by nose. An illness that blocks the nose causes potentially fatal loss of breathing. I’d imagine most of us catch colds far more often than we choke on food.

Also, without our exhaled breath echoing off our teeth, tongue, and other structures in our mouth, we couldn’t have a voice. I’d say the power and beauty of our voices more than compensates for the relatively minor risk of food choking.

Not sure about OP’s question but the whole Argument from Poor Design angle is attacking some kind of perfectly designed strawman. If we were perfect, then the whole Redemption thing would be kinda pointless. Further, it overlooks the necessity of imperfection in creation that is teleologically distinct from the Creator (i.e. not pantheism). Whether it’s more or less perfect is arbitrary.

It’s a fair argument against benevolent pantheism, though. If anyone believes in that (maybe some schools of Hinduism[?]).
