One needs to read the first three amazing chapters of Genesis in the light of Catholic teaching. The “talking serpent” tells us how Adam was tempted to disobey God. It is Adam freely committing the Original Sin which is important to know.
Indeed - an allegorical element to tells us of that even.

That sounds good to me when you explain the allegorical element historical event and give me the verses that are involved. Here are a couple of hints. Genesis 2:15-17 and paragraph 396 of the universal Catechism of the Catholic Church, Second Edition. In addition, the cross-reference, paragraph 1730, in the margin, will help you with the explanation.

The “talking serpent” is a good literary device. I look forward to your Catholic doctrine explanation. 🙂

In Gen 2 the importance of man.

Byantine Catholic Ambon Prayer of Great and Holy Friday:
Celebrant:

Lord Jesus Christ our God, Savior of the world, you have made us worthy to
reach this hour when, as God, you surrendered your divine soul as a ransom
for the life of the world, and we will be saved from the tyranny of death and
sin, as we serve you in newness of life. You cleansed us from sin by your
own blood when you cried out in a loud voice, “Father, into your hands I
commend my spirit.” Deliver us from every snare of the devil, grant
compunction to our souls, and careful insight to our thoughts concerning
your fearful and righteous judgment. Nail our bodies to fear of you, and put
to death our earthly cares, that, rejecting all ungodliness and worldly desires,
we may live in moderation, righteousness, and reverence. Do not turn your
face away from us, but stretch out your hand in help, and raise us from our
fall into sins. For you are our God, a God of mercy, salvation, and freedom
from sins and we give glory to you, together with your eternal Father, and
your all-holy, good, and life-creating Spirit, now and ever and forever.

"Death is swallowed up in victory.
Where, O death, is your victory?
Where, O death, is your sting?”

1Corinthians 15: 54-55

Unfortunately, for many people, Easter comes and goes.

There is the Resurrection connection to Genesis 2:15-17, the True Creation Story.

Unfortunately, what can happen when readers are so intent about this or that science in the first section of the first three sacred chapters of Genesis – they often miss the fact that the animal world includes death. Years back, on CAF, there was an interesting proposal that humans belong in the Animal Kingdom because they have a material decomposing anatomy which does not skip the dying process.

Unfortunately, the this or that about science in the true beginning of Genesis slides by the most essential truth of all time. “In the beginning, when God created the heavens and the earth,” Genesis 1: 1, followed by Genesis 1: 27. When people are so occupied by that metaphor and this metaphor, there is the chance that they will slide by the dramatic shift from Genesis 1: 25 to Genesis 1: 26.

First, God is almighty present and then we learn His almighty action in creating our first real human ancestor Adam. Genesis 1: 27. We know Adam is first because of the additional info in Genesis 2:18.

Instead of going with the crowd which either ignores or tampers simple Catholic teachings flowing from the basic first three chapters of Genesis, this Easter look at what Genesis 2:15-17 is teaching about eternal joy. One may have to stand on one’s head to get this message because it is the “reverse side” which is important.

Where is the eternal death that belongs naturally to our material animal blood and bones, skin and guts? It is displaced by our participation in God’s loving friendship seen in Genesis 3: 9. It is God, not Adam, Who, in Genesis 1: 27, makes it possible for us to have eternal joy in God’s loving presence following bodily death.

In those first loving chapters of Sacred Scripture, we find the human Adam giving up his original friendship relationship with his Creator. With intellective free choice, Adam disobeys and loses the original victory over death. He ignored Genesis 2:17. Victory is swallowed up by the first human’s free yielding to temptation.

Easter reminds us that Jesus, assuming human nature, stepped into Adam’s sandals in order to repair the broken original relationship between Divinity and humanity.

Long ago, we would say that the Resurrection opened the gates of heaven.

The True Creation Story is true because God in the first three sacred chapters of Genesis continues to be present in our world.
God is not a metaphor then or now.

Long ago, we would say that the Resurrection of Jesus Christ opened the gates of heaven. The gates of heaven were closed when Adam scorned his Creator.

From the universal *Catechism of the Catholic Church, Second Edition. *

**CCC 397 **Man, tempted by the devil, let his trust in his Creator die in his heart and, abusing his freedom, disobeyed God’s command. This is what man’s first sin consisted of. All subsequent sin would be disobedience toward God and lack of trust in His goodness.

**CCC 398 **In that sin man *preferred *himself to God and by that very act scorned Him. He chose himself over and against God, against the requirements of his creaturely status and therefore against his own good. Constituted in a state of holiness, man was destined to be fully “divinized” by God in glory. Seduced by the devil, he wanted to “be like God”, but “without God, before God, and not in accordance with God”.

**CCC 399 **Scripture portrays the tragic consequences of this first disobedience. Adam and Eve immediately lose the grace of original holiness. They become afraid of the God of whom they have conceived a distorted image - that of a God jealous of his prerogatives.

**St. John gives us the truth about God’s continual presence, then and now. **
**John 3: 16-17 usccb.org/bible/john/3 **

16
For God so loved the world that He gave* His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him might not perish but might have eternal life.
17
For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn* the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.

** The 254 Infallibly Declared Dogmas of the Catholic Faith**

God has created a good world.
Yes he did.

But any good creation can be tampered with and CORRUPTED:

Enoch 9:6 [Samyaza] have gone TOGETHER to the DAUGHTERS OF MEN; have lain with them; have BECOME POLLUTED; 10 And now behold the SOULS of those who are dead, CRY OUT. 11 And complain even to the GATE of heaven.
Enoch 15:1-2 O righteous Enoch… Go, say to the WATCHERS of heaven… you FORSAKEN the lofty and holy heaven, which endures FOREVER, and have LAIN with WOMEN; have DEFILED YOURSELVES with the DAUGHTERS OF MEN; have taken to yourselves WIVES; have acted like the SONS OF THE EARTH, and have begotten an IMPIOUS OFFSPRING

The blood type issue never really comes up, yet I do remember a few years back trying to find out why there are different types of blood groups and different ethnic groups of people since we all are from one ‘type’ of human couple.
I can not find the thread…

The bloodtype stuff is super fun and unlocks Christianity and the real reason God came in the flesh (which has almost nothing do with ‘fulfilling the challenges of the Mosaic Law’).

Mankind essentially belong under the dominion of Satan (infallibly declared dogma). To understand ‘how and why’ is something maybe I shouldn’t get into because it can cause people to change their whole view around of their Faith and their whole perspective on life.

God coming in the flesh is essentially throwing us a life-line… a ‘rescue’ metaphysically because our current bodies and souls cannot enter eternal heaven. The sacraments are literal and metaphysical. They actually do something.

Literally ex-haling and speaking out your sins in the safety of the priest actually does something. It’s not instituted as a game or for fun. I would have never believed this stuff to be true, but look:
Mat 15:10 Jesus called the crowd together and said, “Pay attention and try to understand 11 It’s NOT what goes INTO the mouth that defiles a man; but what comes OUT of the mouth that defiles a man.” 16 “Are you also STILL without understanding? 17 …whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and is eliminated into the sewer 18 But those THINGS which proceed OUT of the mouth come from the HEART, and they defile a man. 19 For OUT of the heart proceed evil thoughts (science has now shown the heart has brain cells and is somewhat a mind of its own that we will never understand).
Here’s concrete proof the words you speak out have an effect on creation that we simply don’t understand. This video has the potential to change your whole perspective on life and take it serious when your priest blesses something: youtube.com/watch?v=au4qx_l8KEU

Blood is a material element which appears in various species such as rabbits and humans. As a material element, blood, in the body or on the ground, does not have a rational brain in order to understand Christianity.

In the Catholic Church, we teach that the Second Person of the Most Holy Trinity assumed human nature.
Mankind essentially belong under the dominion of Satan (infallibly declared dogma).
The Catholic Church makes a clear distinction between “essentially belong under the dominion of Satan” and “has acquired a certain domination over man”. (CCC 407) This is because human nature was not totally corrupted by Adam’s Original Sin. (CCC 405 & CCC 416-418)
To understand ‘how and why’ is something maybe I shouldn’t get into because it can cause people to change their whole view around of their Faith and their whole perspective on life.
We need to understand what happened in Genesis 3: 11.

When we refer to the meaning and intention of the Incarnation, we can receive a life-line. This life-line is known as the Catholic Church.

In Gen 2 the importance of man.
I would like to ofer a slightly different interpretation of Genesis 1:1, courtesy of Dr. Scott Hahn–The eternal love story of Scripture begins very simply: “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” (Gen 1:1). … “the heavens and the earth” point to the two main realms within creation. the spiritual and the material. The first one refers to the immaterial realm that is occupied by pure spirits, “heavenly hosts” we call angels; while the second one points to the earthly habitat God made for humanity. Unlike the heavens, however, earth was still in an incomplete state of formlessness and emptiness. After these words, the rest of this chapter narrates God’s creative response to, and resolution of, both of these problematic features of earth’s primordial chaotic condition. God transforms earth—from chaos to cosmos—according to his power and plan.

—Scott Hahn, A Father Who Keeps His Promises: God’s Covenant Love in Scripture (Cincinnati, OH: St. Anthony Messenger Press, Servant Books, 1998), p. 43.

Earth, in Dr. Hahn’s reading, would be the whole material universe (including all space as well as this planet) that exists within time. Note that this reading would also give us a handle on when the angels were created, something that is otherwise an unknown.

The mind of Dr. Scott Hahn is amazing. Thank you.

God not only transforms earth—from chaos to cosmos—He transforms the material creature into a person who can share in His own life. Genesis 1: 27 & CCC 355-356.This particular transformation is the foundation of the original friendship relationship between the Creator God and His first human creature. It is basic to The True Creation Story.

To our gentle readers,

It is time to look back at the posts and definitely check if there are unanswered questions.

Or maybe you have your own questions.

It is o.k. to ask if Adam is really real.

And it is o.k. to talk about the African woman who received the media title of Mitochondrial Eve.

Speaking about Eve. The answer is that she is not the person who committed the Original Sin.

My question is – How can we make those first three long ago chapters relevant to today?

Out of Africa (micocondrial eve) theory is inconsistent with a very recent paper on Y-chromosomes released in 2012, (Re-Examing the “Out of Africa” Theory and the Origin of Europeoids (Caucasians) in the Light of DNA Genealogy by Anatole A. Klyosov and Igor L. Rozhanski) which confirms the denial of any African ancestry in Australia.
