The Bible is backed up by zero evidence and is built upon conspicuous inaccuracies, impossibilities, contradictions, bigotry, misogyny, homophobia, racism, and violence.

The Bible is conforming to certainty. It claims to know beyond what is knowledgeable. All backed up with nothing. All backed up with nothing apart from words in a book. The evidence is overwhelmingly at odds with the words of the Bible.

How can you continue to believe something without any evidence at all of its validity or genuineness?

The Misconceptions, Contradictions and Inaccuracies

The New Testament – Gospels  is a record of “eye-witnesses” as we are led to believe. The truth is that none of these people met or knew Jesus Christ. How can they write of the life of Jesus Christ without ever knowing him? How can they back-up his life without ever knowing him? As a result of this, is it surprising of the many misconceptions in the New Testament?

Why do only two of the Gospels pay reference to the virgin birth? You would think this was one of the most critical aspects of the life of Jesus Christ. The truth is that the Gospels do not match. No reference to original sin? Immaculate Conception? Popes? Why? St. Paul did not meet Jesus either.

The Bible incites violence, misogyny, homophobia, racism and bigotry. The Old Testament is laden with God killing people. God was a murderer according to Genesis.

“Whoever sheds human blood, by human beings shall their blood be shed; for in the image of God has God made all people” Genesis 9:6

Now forgive me, but God, as he says, made all people in the image of himself, so why is it surprising that human beings kill and shed blood? God was on a killing spree in the Old Testament.

He was misogynistic:

“Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you.” Genesis 3:16

God also claims to have created the stars, moon, etc, which led me to perplex over the fact that moons and stars are part of the solar system, part of other planets. Did God create these other planets also? Why does he not make reference to them?

God hated homosexuals. Man made the Bible – nature made man – nature made gay. It is all very hypocritical. All the prescriptions against homosexuality are in the Old Testament. Jesus did not discuss homosexuality at all. If it’s so important, why did he never discuss it?

The Bronze Age

Do we still passionately cling onto beliefs from the Bronze Age? No, so why do we still cling onto Biblical beliefs? The notion that God created every divine species separately has been disproved, as has many other things. Does this not cast doubt on the whole book as a result?

We believed the following in the Bronze Age:

• The Earth was flat
• Constellations were celestial beings
• Spitting in/on a wound cured it
• Sea Monsters were considered a legitimate hazard

Of course, these all have been proven as utter fallacies, utter fiction. Yet, people still believe in the Bible. It beggars belief.

When was Jesus Christ born? The birth date of Jesus Christ was not established until 349AD. Why? Was Jesus really born on the 25th of December?

 Recently, a survey conducted in Italy posed the question: Who do you turn to when you pray? Guess what? Jesus Christ was 6th (sixth) on the list out of all the Saints, etc. That’s interesting isn’t it!

The Bible is Not Original

Does it not bother you that the life of Jesus Christ is uncannily identical to other “stories” that was going around the Mediterranean for at least 1000 years before the Bible?

The Story of Krishna
  1. Born in India 1000 years before Jesus Christ.
  2. Was a carpenter.
  3. Born to a virgin.
  4. Baptised in a river.
Persian God Mithra
  1. 600 years before Christ.
  2. Born 25th December.
  3. Performed miracles.
  4. Resurrected on the 3rd day.
  5. Was known as, The Lamb, The Truth, The Way, The
    Saviour, The Light, The Messiah.
The Egyptian Book of the Dead
  1. Written in 1280BC, describes a God, named Horus…
  2. Horus is the son of the God, Osiris…born to a virgin mother.
  3. He was baptised in a river by Anup the baptiser, who was
    later beheaded.
  4. Like Jesus, Horus was tempted while along in the desert
and healed the sick, the blind, cast out demons, and
    walked on water.
  5. He raised Asar from the dead. (Asar translated into
    Lazarus.)
  6. He also had 12 disciples.
  7. Horus was crucified first and after three days, TWO women
announced Horus, the saviour of humanity had been
    resurrected.
Hmm, that is uncannily identical.

The Sabbath

The 7th day = rest day. According to the Old Testament there are certain actions that are punishable by death if they are carried out on the Sabbath. There are 39 of these actions that are punishable to death. Some of the following are part of this 39:

• Lighting a fire
• Planting
• Ploughing
• Tying a knot
• Building
• Pushing a button

Come on! How can people believe in the Bible?

The Story of Sodom & Gomorrah

God found out of all the evil happenings in S&G and sent two angels to S&G – one to the house of one righteous man called Laud. The town’s people tried to rape these angels. Laud did not want a bad reputation conjured of S&G, so he sent out his daughter to be raped instead. He was supposed to be the good guy.

Why would I want to put my morality in the Bible? Why?

“The Earth Will End”

According to the Bible, the Earth will end. Most Christians want this to happen as they believe they will be with God. This sort of mentality is dangerous. The Earth will end in the name of religion, and it is wrong!!!

Human history is laden with false misconceptions, inaccuracies, etc, so why is the Bible exempt to so many people?

I will leave you with one last thought:

If you were a kid and they transposed the Bible as a fairytale would you know the difference as an adult?

Come on! How can people believe in the Bible?
I don’t “believe in the Bible”. I believe in God the Father. I believe in Jesus Christ, son of the livng God. And I believe in the Holy Spirit
Why would I want to put my morality in the Bible? Why?
You should not put your morality in the Bible. But you can learn what is moral by properly reading the Bible.

How can you believe in some parts of the Bible and not all? Surely the inaccuracies and false assertions found in the Bible cast doubt over the entire book?

You can’t just pick out bits and believe what you want, whilst disregarding the rest.

And you chose to spout all of this on a Catholic apologetics website, why?

There are a lot of strange statements in your post, so before you waste any more of our time, I will address just one statement.

In your section on the New Testament, you stated that none of these people knew or even met Jesus Christ. I would ask where you get your “proof” for that. Please cite your sources and please be specific.

We don’t usually let people get away with making wild statements around here without backing them up.

If you can make some lucid argument to back up that statement, I will answer more of your charges.
Oh, and by the way, we aren’t looking for “Zeitgeist” type answers, also unsupported by fact.

What I have written is genuine and non-fictionalised.

However, I believe you are showing deep hypocrisy. The Bible shows absolutely no evidence yet you follow its religion - it’s words. Evidence does not seem important to you!

We can say for the sake of argument that I have provided at least one reference that the authors of the Gospels knew Christ. That source is the Bible.

You have provided, thus far, exactly zero sources.

Now, your only answer was that I was a hypocrit and that evidence was not important to me. Actually, I’m the only one who showed ANY evidence. (Oh, and we can show a lot more, by the way).

So let me rephrase my question a little more simply: Exactly what evidence do you have to back up your statement?

Come on, you made the statement. Just one or two little sources, please. Should be easy for someone with so many answers…

What made you think I do this?

How can the Bible be used as a source of evidence when it provides no evidence for its ludicrous fallacies?

What exactly do you want me to provide evidence to, and what parts of my post do you agree/disagree with?

Evidence that the Bible contains “ludicrous fallacies”, would be a good place to start.

oh yes, how silly of us…we should stop believing the Bible and believe you instead:rolleyes: yes, that makes lots of sense!!

Erm, men that lived to 900+ years of age? Jonah living in a large fish for three days? A woman being made from a man’s rib? A talking snake? Talking to burning bushes? I can go on and on.

Now, as you believe in the Bible, it is not my job to provide evidence for these crazy stories. You cannot prove a negative, just for example, you cannot prove there is not a green monster lurking outside my window every night that only I can see. Of course, it’s not true, but you cannot prove that.

Do you agree with any of my points? What about the last quotation of my original post? What about the exclusion of very important parts of Jesus’s life from the gospels?

What about the fact that the Bible is not original?

You believe in Jesus Christ as a divine being. Without the Bible, how do you know of him. Did you meet him personally?
I sorry, but this does not begin to answer my question. See exchange below.

Are you serious? These are not my thoughts by the way. Why should you believe the Bible? It’s about as credible as Jack and The Beanstalk.

does anyone know where we keep the troll smiley? Guess I’ll have to use this instead:hypno:

Buddy, it ain’t really that hard. Look back at my post. It was a very simple question.
  1. You said that the authors of the Gospel never knew and never met Jesus Christ.
  2. I challenged that statement.
  3. I asked you to show us all how you arrived at that conclusion.
  4. Normally, when people state something which they claim to be fact, they can back it up with for instance, documentary evidence. I can, you can’t.
That’s why you will never answer my question, because you can’t. All you can do is say that everything you believe is fact. The problem is, you have absolutely no facts to back up your belief.

So, once again, come on, I know you can do it. I have faith in you. Just one little, credible source. Pretty please with sugar on top.

Your contribution is very limited which just conveys that you cannot add to a genuine debate or discussion because you are so narrow-minded. Well done.

I suggest you watch the new documentary that has just been released. It is called “Religulous” and shows a devout Christian admitting that the apostles did not know Jesus Christ.

As for the rest of my post, what do you disagree with? I genuinely feel I have made some decent points.

The Bible is not original, do you challenge this assertion?

As I’ve said, it’s a bit hypocritical asking for all this evidence, when the very religion you believe in is based on none whatsoever. You are right, however, to seek evidence. It’s a pitty you cannot be more consistent in this seeking of evidence. 😦
