Erm, men that lived to 900+ years of age? Jonah living in a large fish for three days? A woman being made from a man’s rib? A talking snake? Talking to burning bushes? I can go on and on.
So you have. However, you have provided nothing other than you opinion that these are fallacies. Where is the evidence?
Now, as you believe in the Bible,
Did you miss my post #3?
it is not my job to provide evidence for these crazy stories. You cannot prove a negative, just for example, you cannot prove there is not a green monster lurking outside my window every night that only I can see. Of course, it’s not true, but you cannot prove that.
You are the one making the claim, so if you want to be taken seriously, the back up your claim.
Do you agree with any of my points?
No.
What about the last quotation of my original post?
What of it?
What about the exclusion of very important parts of Jesus’s life from the gospels?
What does that have to do with what was written?
What about the fact that the Bible is not original?
So?

Your contribution is very limited which just conveys that you cannot add to a genuine debate or discussion because you are so narrow-minded. Well done.
What debate? All you have done is state your opinion without backing any of it up or answer any questions! That’s far from a debate.

I’m narrow-minded how? Because I don’t believe anything you have written? Or because I think you are just trying to start a fight?

It’s usually those who post like this that are trolls, now if you want this thread to stay open, don’t be rude:tsktsk: the mods. don’t like that.

does anyone know where we keep the troll smiley? Guess I’ll have to use this instead:hypno:
I think “Yukon Joe” is about as close to a troll smiley as there is on CAF: :yukonjoe:

😉

Something tells me the OP isn’t here for an honest discussion. Perhaps he thinks he is “surprising” us with arguments we haven’t seen asked an answered a hundred times before. 🤷

Right, ok. How can I debate with anyone who believes men lived 900+ years and lived in a fish, and woman was made from a male’s rib.

You cannot prove a negative. Are you failing to comprehend this? You cannot prove I have a green monster outside my window that only I can see. Does that make it right? No!

What evidence do you have that these fallacies are true, because at the end of the day, you are the one who believes them. Are you just naive?
Did you miss my post #3?
I’ll reflect on that post.
You are the one making the claim, so if you want to be taken seriously, the back up your claim.
Back up what claim? That the aforementioned fairy-tale fallacies are just that, fallacies? Do you believe in Jack and The Beanstalk? Why not?
Ok. With all due respect, it would be better if you can remove your head from the clouds. The Bible is not an original story. Do you agree with this and if not, why not?
Why are you just providing petty answers? That always seem to be the norm with discussing the credibility of the Bible.

It’s lame.

The Bible is backed up by zero evidence and is built upon conspicuous inaccuracies, impossibilities, contradictions, bigotry, misogyny, homophobia, racism, and violence. blah, blah blah…

Aww, heck, not this rubbish again!

Do yourself and us a favor, pal. Why don’t you read a couple of books that have answered all this rubbish a hundred times over, and then come back and have a civil somewhat informed discussion?

I’d recommend you start with Karl Keatings “Fundamentalism and Catholicism” and “What’s So Great About Christianity” by Dinesh D’Sousa.

If you aren’t willing to inform yourself with the facts, you are not worth debating with. It wouldn’t be sporting to spar with an unarmed man.

If I was so sure that I had "THE TRUTH WITHIN’ I don’t think I’d care so much that other people believe in whatever they believe in!

Why do you care that people believe that truth can be found in Biblical writings?

You believe in Jesus Christ as a divine being. Without the Bible, how do you know of him. Did you meet him personally?
I know of Jesus Christ, and of all God’s revelation, through the Church he founded. The bible is one method of transmitting that revelation, but it is by no means the only method. And for that matter, I only believe the bible because the Church testifies that it is inspired by God.

Answer them again, then because I sure as hell (hmm, another fallacy) have not heard of them.

What’s stopping you?

Is there any evidence to support the credibility of the Bible?

I suggest you watch the new documentary that has just been released. It is called “Religulous” and shows a devout Christian admitting that the apostles did not know Jesus Christ.

As for the rest of my post, what do you disagree with? I genuinely feel I have made some decent points.

The Bible is not original, do you challenge this assertion?

As I’ve said, it’s a bit hypocritical asking for all this evidence, when the very religion you believe in is based on none whatsoever. You are right, however, to seek evidence. It’s a pitty you cannot be more consistent in this seeking of evidence. 😦
Oh, I get it now, you are Bill Maher. I guess if Bill says something, it must be fact.

Ok, Mr. Fact and Evidence guy. Look at the next thing you wrote. A “devout Christian admitting that the apostles did not know Jesus Christ” is like a skilled mechanic admitting that your car can run on ice cream. Just cause he said it don’t make it so.

Next you asked what else in your post I disagree with. Ain’t gonna play that game with you, Skippy. Let’s work on one issue at a time here. Until I can get an answer on that one, we aren’t going to address any more.

Next you said that I was hypocritical asking you for evidence when you are the one who was supposedly stating fact. If it’s fact, you can prove it, right?

So, I will use my little popcorn eating smilie: 🍿 (That’s me waiting for you to answer just one question.
Bet you won’t. Bet you can’t.

Because it’s dangerous. Have you not read my original post? I agree that Christianity does bring peace and comfort to some people’s life, but I cannot fathom how people can believe in the Bible where no evidence is at the forefront. It’s as credible as a fairytale.

Religion causes conflicts all over the world. The world will end in the name of religion.

I like the way you turn the tables. Ok, just because that devout Christian said so does not make it true. I agree. So, why believe the Bible when it possess no evidence?

Anyway, the proof is in the pudding. Church attendances are dropping considerably every year. Year upon year. What does that tell you?

Erm, you are stating the Bible is fact. Prove it. Bet you wont, bet you can’t.

Can I have some too while we wait? I’m narrow-minded, but I’m nice:D
I don’t doubt you are nice. Christians are not bad people. My grandparents go to Church every week.

I just think you’re deluded. No offence.

Do you believe in evolution by means of natural selection?

Now I’m deluded!! Gee I just like you more and more!!

How is insulting me, helping prove your point about your beliefs or lack there of?

I’m not sure why you think you can tell us not to believe the apostles, because they didn’t know Jesus, you have no proof of that do you? Did you know them to say who their friends were? No, I didn’t think so. But you know the truth, okay. Care to tell us where you got this info.?
If we are so misguided, why not share your vast knowledge with us!! Because you can’t. You have nothing to back up your statements…it’s just hot air!

Why would you expose yourself to those so deluded? Won’t you become contaminated?

Just because you say “No offence”, doesn’t make it any less so.

What does evolution have to do with the OP?

Evolution disproves many ideas and concepts of the Bible. That’s why. You are asking for evidence.

For the 5th time, what evidence do you have for the credibility of the Bible? Oh, that’s right, none, as usual. It’s your faith isn’t it? Faith based on a fairy-tale. How naive!

I can’t disprove Jack and The Beanstalk, yet we all know it’s utter fiction.

Still haven’t answered my question in post #5.

Still waiting 🍿 🍿

(The extra popcorn is for happymommy)

Bill Maher, you don’t get any until you answer the nice man’s question…

Evolution, as a as fact regarding natural selection and as a theory of the origin of man disproves nothing of the Church.

The evidence I have is the Church that Jesus Christ started and her teachings that have endured since its beginning.

What say you?
