The USCCB, Brokeback Mountain and The Passion of the Christ

I’m new here - what happened to the other threads about the film Brokeback Mountain? Did they just disappear or were they removed? If they were removed, how come?
 
Perhaps a more pertinent comment on film and media than the one from 1936 - or at least as pertinent - would be the Vatican II document “Decree on the means of social communication”. As far as film goes, look up the Vatican’s list of “45 Films of Note”, put out in 1995. You may be surprised at what the Vatican reccommends there - among them, for example, Nosferatu, the original Dracula film.
 
What do people want? to be told from on high what they can and can’t watch or to use their own God-given intelligence and conscience? Each person chooses their own destiny - you can be commanded, or scared, or ordered into faith but not into the most life-giving sort of faith, which is a faith that is a gift from God, learnt through living it, not from being told what to do.
