Yeah, I saw that yesterday, and I found it a little strange. Outside an abusive nun, and a mentioned “mission from God”, what is Catholic about it?

It made me feel really old to find out this is the Blues Brothers’ 30th anniversary. :o

I thought it strange also. I view the movie as sort of a guilty pleasure, as I do like it, but I don’t really find it to have an observable religious content, except perhaps very loosely in that the brothers are in a desperate effort to save an orphanage.

Wow has it really been 30 years? Who says God doesn’t have a sense of humor!

Be careful in your attribution. While L’Osservatore Romano has an official space in the sphere of the Holy See, we should never confuse the newspaper’s stories as official proclamations from the Magisterium or the Holy See itself.

In short, the article confuses the Vatican’s *newspaper *with the Vatican *authority *itself.

I cannot find the specific article from L’Osservatore Romano itself, which should clarify who wrote the article. If the author isn’t a cardinal, we need to take this with a grain of salt.
 
They are holding a retrospective around here about The Blues Brothers. They were filming outside scenes 30 years ago when I was trying to study for the bar.

The MSM does that with every article coming out of L’Osservatore Romano. It’s one of my pet peeves. They act as though that newspaper was the official press office of the Holy Father. :rolleyes:
