Let us then, go to or write to our Bishops and our Pastors. Tell them what’s on our minds. Encourage them to speak up about certain things. We are in a relationship with God, let’s also be in a relationship with our sheperds. I sent a letter to a local pastor recently expressing my thoughts.

Remember, nobody comes over from the local Church when you miss Mass to scold you. Let’s exhibit Christ’s love and help our Church leaders by talking to or writing them.

They are people as well. They are affected by all this as well. Sometimes, they need encouragement as we all do.

Peace,
Ed
Well said Ed. I think that if we showed more support to our clergy, they will be holier and more effective

For those who have no time to watch videos (see Post #35), it looks like something big may be in the works - in their words, one that could re-shape history…RealCatholicTV is requesting a 20 decade Rosary be said for the intention that Arch Burke and the Holy Father will be able to correct the abuse at Notre Dame…it could happen as early as this week…the details are not forthcoming at this time.

I’m posting this on this thread…did you all see it?

URGENT PRAYER REQUEST:

Sounds like something big is about to happen:
I watched the video. God willing, I will say the 20 decade Rosary for the next week. But I have trouble getting in the 5 decade Rosary, and the Divine Mercy Chaplet on top of my regular morning and evening prayers. My kids are still very young, and I am exhausted. 😊

Like WHAT??

Seriously, what specifically has he done that was impressive. I am not asking what he says, but what he has actually accomplished that would be worthy of being honored.
Very little good, if anything, Obama has done a lot of talking though.

One thing I think is sad, is that if they were to Poll practicing catholics the numbers would be alot different don’t you think. If some seventy percent of catholics don’t attend sunday mass in America, isn’t likely that these are included and their views overly represented. We are in a sad state. I think Obama would have made himself look alot better if he backed out and said, whoops! He seems to be able to on other things. I also wonder if the same thing were to have taken place in a school of a different faith, would he have stuck his feet in like this? Just like covering the cross at that one place when he was using the mic right in front of it. He wouldn’t have dared do that to something of a different religion or faith…for sure if it were in a foriegn country, they get more respect than his own American brothers and sisters. He could have just said, lets move the mic over there two feet out of view of cameras. I had hopes for him, even though I didn’t vote for him, I still want to believe that he doesn’t want to intentionally target catholics.

If only St. Peter had invited Nero to pen a letter to the churches, the Holy Spirit would have taken over and the persecutions would have stopped, right?
There’s no counterfactual on this. God only knows what might have happened! 😃

I feel extra blessed when I read the wonderful things Archbishop Burke says. As it turns out, I am a convert to the Church and was introduced to the faith by none other than the then Father Burke.

Patrick Madrid just sent this link out on his Facebook account about the Bishops that speak and those that don’t. Good read.

Timcin:

Good link - I’m from the TAC, & the we’ve been negotiating for 14 years now trying to stitch back just part of what Henry VIII & his unmerry band broke apart…

Here’s a good quote from one of the correspondents on Madrid’s website:

The Bishops Who Speak… And Those Who Don’t

Reply - When Bishops don’t speak
R. Brown - May 11, 2009 12:10 pm

When Bishop’s don’t speak, they are indeed speaking, especially in today’s media times. Silence is seen as acceptance or approval. I remember speaking to other Catholics on issues and part of their justification was, “Well, the Bishop hasn’t said anything!”

When other Bishops are silent, it does force those that truly want to instruct their “flock”, to break with other Bishops and to speak out, so there is no doubt as to what that Bishop teaches in his diocese. This allows the press to begin “counting” those silent verses the vocal Bishops. The assumption being, those silent to the press, are those in favor of the event.

Unfortunately, silent Bishops will yield martyrs in future years, as the lay Catholic faithful are then forced to speak out on issues. Because the stance of the Bishops, in their silence, is not well known, when lay Catholics vocalize the Churches teachings and positions, they will be martyred. It then becomes a case of “passing-the-buck.”

As an ANGLICAN, I can tell you about the the embarrassment of belonging to the Church that MARTYRED St. John Fisher and St. Thomas More. And, I can tell you with certainty that King Henry VIII would have had a much more difficult time doing this terrible thing if the rest of the Bishops (including the Archbishop of Canterbury) would have stood for their Lord and for the Catholic Faith instead of giving in the demands of this vain and proud King and declaring him to be the head of the Christ’s Church in England and all of its claimed territories.

As St. Thomas More said so eloquently, "Silence is Tacit Consent. Please remember that there were and are Bishops who have stood up for the Lord and for the Faith - find out who they are, how to contact them, encourage them with letters, emails, phone calls and personal contacts. If you find one of them on a “board”, let him know how much his effort is appreciated. Although this is a SPIRITUAL BATTLE, our Bishops need to know that we are with them when they march forward, that their efforts are appreciated and that they aren’t alone.

I’ll deal with how to get those who are good-hearted but afraid to speak off the fence in another post. I have a personal history with one who was afraid because he was quite ill (Parkinson’s Disease) and confronted by a powerful Canon (my Rector - I’ve spoken about this briefly elsewhere). I had to let him know that I was behind him, that I wasn’t going to desert him, and then remind him of how he earned the “Heavy Metal” (Medal of Honor, Purple Heart, Distinguished Flying Cross, Etc.) he was entitled to wear if he wished, by calling him “Bishop CAG” (Commander Air Group - I was the only one who was allowed to do that).

As you can read in my previous post, it worked…

As I said, this will be the topic of a new post, because there are some nuances involved, and we have to distinguish between the Bishop who’s afraid because of the repercussions to himself or his flock and the Bishop who doesn’t care, or who’s completely compromised by the world and it’s values. The first one is still Godly and needs to be reassured that the Lord will protect him and his flock. I’ll not comment on the 3rd, because I sincerely believe the Catholic Church doesn’t have too many of them left.

Ana:

Do you remember the scene where the poor widow put in a tiny worthless PENNY after ALL of those RICH people had THROWN in their HUGE SUMS OF MONEY? That applies to prayer, too… Our Lord honors the little, “Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a Miserable Sinner.” said by the exhausted mother every bit as much if not more than He honors someone who has ALL DAY to come into the Church and spend 80 minutes saying 20 decades of the Rosary (I need 30 minutes to say 5 decades). He’s going to honor YOUR One extra “Hail Mary” or Trisagion Prayer every bit as much as He will honor the 20 decade Rosaries of those who had the time to say the 20 decades, because He knows how dificult this is for you and that you’re not going to be doing this “out of the abundance of our time”, but “out of your scarcity”.:nun1:
:newidea:
I’m going to tell you of a way that just might work for you… St. Paul said to be praying ceaselessly - But he didn’t say how. The Desert Fathers used to say “The Prayer of the Publican” (The “Jesus Prayer” I quoted above) as they went about their daily routine. The Greeks (both Orthodox & Catholic) like to say (or sing) the Trisagion Prayer (“Holy God, Holy and Mighty, Holy Immortal, Have Mercy on us”) as they go about their daily routine. and, Fr. Corapi likes to repeat, “Immaculate Heart of Mary, I put my whole trust in you.” as he goes about his daily routine.
:harp:
Many of the Saints have found SINGING Psalms and spiritual songs to be a good way of praying, and this is not only something you can do while doing your daily routine, this is something you can do with your kids. and, Many of the Saints have said that those who sing PRAY TWICE…

Try all of these, and see which you like, just not while driving or doing anything which requires your undivided attention. You can ask God to apply any of these prayers to the situation at Notre Dame. and, This will keep your spirit united to God in prayer. Remember that scripture where St. Paul said the Holy Spirit would take over and make intercession for us in groans and sighs we couldn’t understand? Doing this will enable that.:angel1:

The main thing is not to worry and to remember that prayer is a conversation between you and God, and that it’s part of your relationship with God.

God Bless you and give you strength!

Let’s see if we can find anything he should be honored for:
Threatening to destroy Social Security (would cost billions, what would you do with the remains?)
Reward his corrupt cabinet for their work (it must cost something to maintain them)
Bailouts (how many, what kind, how much) (must be quite a few)
Government abortion agencies (billions, billions)
Increased war in BOTH Iraq and Afganistan (billions, billions, billions)
Revision of the US legal system with UN treaties written by radicals, CEDAW,etc. (you have to pay an activist lawyer something)
Health Care Reform (doctors cost a lot of money and most of it will go down the drain).

America’s problems will not be solved by economics. This goes for the right and the left. God Alone will solve America’s problems. If we did without the things Obama said we’re going to do without, we could invest in Catholic books and media and we would win. It’s a lot cheaper. Obama’s insane predictions for economics show he is a madman, and I don’t think he should be honored for that. Should we tell everyone what a health care reform in a totally abortion administration would look like?

Exactly… WHAT???

I’d like to know too.
