Ginger:
Have you ever considered which Biblical person you would most like to be like? (other than Jesus) I expect many Catholic women would say the Virgin Mary.
Do you go by your assumption to know what Catholic women think? Most Catholics who practice their faith, would say we are to imitate Jesus Christ.
Mary was a good and faithful servant. She is not co-redeemer, nor does she assist Jesus in destroying evil.
So you by your assumption, Mary did not consent to God’s plan for salvation. Mary did co-operated with God, by proclaiming, “I am the handmaid of the Lord; be it done onto me according to your word.” With her consent, the Word became flesh.
A better way to honor her would be to stop sharing credit with her for what God accomplishes.
So you tell me I should stop calling Mary blessed.

Mary said, "All generation will call me Blessed. You know, Catholics and Orthodox are part of that generation. Are you a part of that generation that call her Blessed?
I have, or so I am told, a give of prayer. I do not let people give me credit for things working out the way I ask. I am only doing what God has asked of me - praying and believing - it is God who does the work.
God does indeed do most of the Word. Mary by herself could not do anything. She was a Jewish little girl and didn’t understand that how she could be with child. Yet, with faith, she accepted the God’s will. She agree to become the Mother of Jesus, the Son of the Living God.
I really don’t believe Mary would be happy about all the praise and credit some Catholics give her.
We honor Mary because of her relationship with her son. I don’t think you know the mind of Mary as you ought. Catholics love God first, and Mary second. Because God is our creator, all worship and adoration is due only to God, who is One Lord, and One mediator.

but interesting. i’ve been on the other side of this and sometimes its hard to hear the message because it’s too loud. you know what i mean? Ginger2 started this thread for some reason and i pray God uses it to soften her a little. but we need to keep in mind that Mary loves Ginger2 because Jesus loves her and we too should love her 'cause Jesus loves her.

Catholics teach that Mary, mother of Jesus, was born without original sin.

What does the Catholic church say about whether or not The Virgin Mary ever sinned during her lifetime?
is this the real reason for this thread or did you already know the answer? what does your heart say about mary? anything?

Mary loves all Christians, and she want nothing more than to have the children of God to stop offending her son, and to give the glory and honor do to her Son, Jesus Christ.

The Catholic Church does not require a Catholic to pray to Mary. She does say that it is fruitful to increase the faith of Catholics. In my years as a Catholic, I give all adoration and worship to God. I give Mary the honor given to her because since she is our spiritual mother, I willing obey the commandment, “honor your father and mother.” And so I do.

I think the Blessed Virgin Mary was born with much wisdom and grew in the teaching and blessings of God.

Manny, You have read so much more into what I said. You do not sin to called her blessed. Mary was blessed among women. The Bible says so.

I don’t have any idea whether you give more to Mary than is due or not. But I am saddened that the Catholic Church does not speak out against those who lift her up to equality with God.

To praise her in psalters that are nearly word for word the praises due to God from Psalms in sin. And when the Catholic church says it’s no big deal they cause others to sin. I know people who think these psalters are fitting praise for Mary. The Catholic Church is letting them down.

There is really nothing more to say. God bless.

I meant to delete a post but I see it is up. Is there a way to get it removed? I did not wish to share with everyone.

i think you can go to the post 457 and click edit and you can delete it there. someone correct me if i’m wrong

It only lets you delete or edit right after posting. I wrote over it saying I would send a private message to you but both messages are there.

I sent a message to the moderator so maybe she will take care of it.

One more thing, will you quickly go in and edit your post to me by removing the **number **of the post I want deleted? I’m afraid I am drawing attention to it. I didn’t think before writing.

To Ginger2, jmcrae, et. al. This is about naming source materials for the ease of this discussion…
“I came out of the mouth of the Most High, the first-born before all creatures” (Ecclus. xxiv., 5).

“To this Divine Mother we have offered the flowers of the month of May;…” (Ecclus. xxiv., 23).
Only one of these is a quote from the Book of Sirach (Ecclesiasticus as it was formerly called, not to be confused with Ecclesiastes). The first one is, Sirach 24:5, and it is quoted by Pope Leo XIII in Augustissimae Virginis Mariae. The SECOND is NOT from Sirach, it is from the same Papal document (paragraph 4). Here is the PROPER context:
To this Divine Mother we have offered the flowers of the month of May; to her we would have also fruit-bearing October dedicated with especial tenderness of devotion. It is fitting that both parts of the year should be consecrated to her who said: “My flowers are the fruit of honour and riches” (Ecclus. xxiv., 23).
As for the Psalter of the Blessed Virgin, you can find it here. It is over-the-top in my opinion – many of the Psalms differ from their Scriptural counterparts by a simple substitution of the person of Mary for God. But, as I have said before, a) it ends each psalm with the Gloria Patri, and b) this was a saint’s private devotion, it is not part of the liturgy of the Church.

Ginger2, what is this “Caritas” you speak of? Is it Caritas Internationalis? I’m just trying to figure out who you feel you were being misled by.

Update: I forgot to include the most important paragraph:
When you are providing a quote from a source, please give us much information as you can. The author, the name of the work (as well as book, chapter, and paragraph references), the surrounding context of the quote, and a link to an online version if possible!
Here is an example: Pope Leo XIII, Augustissimae Virginis Mariae 4, written 12 Sep 1897.

That’s all for now. Pax.

To say (as Elizabeth did by the Holy Ghost)
that Mary is Blessed Among Women,
is not merely saying she is one of the most blessed women.
It is a way of saying she is the MOST blessed woman ever, of all time. You can’t get any MORE blessed than to be trusted by The Father to carry, give birth to, raise, and TEACH, God the Son of God for the first 21 years of his life, and have God the Son
OBEY YOU and SUBMIT to you for 21 years or longer.
He even worked a miracle when his “hour had not yet come” because of the value and persistence of Mary’s intercession.

Mary is neither a god nor a goddess,
but she IS the mother of the Head, the Mother of the Body (and therefore the MEMBERS of the body of Christ) and she is the
Davidic King’s “Gebirah” or Queen-Mother.

Any statement by Jesus which at first glance would APPEAR to “put Mary down” must be seen in the light of the loud declaration of the Holy Spirit speaking through Saint Elizabeth.
The Son and the Spirit (and the Father) are all three of one exact same mind on every issue. After all, they are One God.

Thank you japhy.

That it is or is not part of the liturgy is not the point.

The Catholic Church refuses to make a statement saying that these praises belong to God not Mary.

The result is that many Catholics use them and cannot even see anything wrong with it, but feel it is appropriate. I disagree.

What exactly do you mean by “over the top”?

Caritas of Burmingham. These people pose as faithful Catholics and claim that The Virgin Mary is appearing to thousands to give her messages. Some Catholics are falling for it and the Church does nothing to condemn their blaspheme.

Here are some statements made by “Our Lady”, followed by Bible verses.

I invite you to dedicate your life to me.” - 11/27/1986

The Bible says we should commit our lives to God:
Pro 16:3 Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.
Jam 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
Rom. 6: 22 -23 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.
Jos 24:15 … as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
Nowhere in Scripture are we told to dedicate our lives to Mary!!

Do not be an image of Satan, but be my image.” - 1/30/1986
The Bible says we are made in God’s image:
Gen 1:27 So God created man in his [own] image,
Gen 9:6 for in the image of God made he man.

Today I am calling you to give me your heart so I can change it to be like mine.” - MAY 15, 1986
The Bible says will change our hearts:
Psa 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
2Cr 5:17 Therefore if any man [be] in Christ, [he is] a new creature:
Jer 32:39 And I will give them one heart, and one way,
Eze 11:19 And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you;

the way of salvation that I am offering you through these apparitions.” - 7/25/1995
Who offers us salvation?
Jhn 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Act 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
Rom 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

I am the mediator between you and God.” - JULY 17, 1986
The Bible says there is only one mediator:
1Ti 2:5 For [there is] one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
1Jo 2:1 And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
Rom 8:27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what [is] the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints
Rom 8:34 [It is] Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
Nowhere in Scripture are we told Mary is our mediator.

The Virgin Mary would not contradict Scripture.
" if they speak not according to this word, [it is] because [there is] no light in them." (Isa 8:20)
“Our Lady” is not one in the same as the Virgin Mary. She is an imposter.

Ginger2,

Do you spend most of the time here looking for resources to condemn Catholic practices? It is very apparent to me that is what you are doing here. You will find a writing of saints, or apparition (Church approved) and use it against the Catholic Church and accused her of being blasphemous.

Yet, **none of the thread you posted **are from the official Vatican website that state that Mary is above her son.

Manny,

Caritas is a cult and the Catholic Church could stop them, but they remain silent.

Where is your outrage at these deceivers? Instead you are angry with me for exposing them.

Do you agree with Caritas or do you think they are a cult preying on unsuspecting Catholics?
