True. Let’s get back on topic. The discussion wasn’t progressing anyway. Hope you don’t mind, Flyingfish. I’m ready to keep discussing in a different thread or PM, should you wish to.

Oh come on now, there’s nothing a good MATLAB model can’t solve… plus everyone loves a good graph!Personally, I’m rather inclined to look for spiritual reasons in myself at this point. It could probably be explained with psychology and maths, but I don’t think that’s really the case.
Quite probably she has lower standards than you.
- I’m sitting in Starbucks (whoo hoo free wifi), drinking a Frappucino (it’s the last one I swear). And I see a girl who is fatter than me making out with a guy. What?! I’m not offended by the over the over the top PDA, but I’m fascinated. How can he think her as attractive?! I’m confused. If she can get someone, why am I single?! .

I wouldn’t make out with someone in public, I would feel very uncomfortable.Quite probably she has lower standards than you.
A clue to this is that she’s making out in public – would you do that? Insecure people do stuff like that to show that somebody loves them.
I was a single parent for 17 years. I finally married someone from another culture, who wasn’t intimidated by my intelligence, education, height, religion or children. No offence to present company, but American guys strike me as a timid bunch, afraid to venture out of their comfort zone.
I fixed it for you!No offence to present company, but homo sapiens strike me as a timid bunch, afraid to venture out of their comfort zone.
Whoa! I have my own reasons for saying “whoa!” So, whoa!Oh come on now, there’s nothing a good MATLAB model can’t solve… plus everyone loves a good graph!![]()
I read that EWTN article, and you’ll notice in a later post I linked to it myself. That said, when I linked it I also pointed out that it has absolutely no references aside from the quoted pieces of Canon Law.Let me quote again from that EWTN article (which refuses to be wrapped in proper quotations):
We really haven’t dealt with this. The only thing you have linked is an unsourced EWTN article. I guess you showed me what an individual Catholic thinks. This to me is entirely irrelevant, and I would like to see an official source from the Church listing the essential obligations of marriage that 1095.3 is talking about, not one man’s interpretation of it.Think we’ve dealt with that part.
You are splitting hairs at this point. In an earlier post you told me that ability cannot be an essential obligation, but that having and bringing up children is.Anyway, once again, I’ve never claimed that actually having and bringing up children is an essential duty. The duty is to accept and bring up the offspring as it comes. But removing that duty from marriage invalidates. Being unable to assume that duty for psychic reasons invalidates.
Now you’re saying that being unable to assume the duty to accept and bring up offspring invalidates (only for psychic reasons too, if someone is physically disabled and can’t “assume the essential duty” he’s good to go).Ability is not an obligation because ability cannot be an obligation. Having and bringing up children may be an obligation, and is.
No you didn’t. American men are, as a whole, very shallow and clueless.I fixed it for you!![]()

Hee hee. I love The Onion! But maybe I wasn’t talking about European men.The grass is always greener on the other side, my dear.

Well wherever people are from, there will pro’s and con’s. Sadly there is no Disneyland of good Catholic singles.Hee hee. I love The Onion! But maybe I wasn’t talking about European men.But since men are very visual, by default, they have to be shallow.

So you aren’t denying that men are shallow? Lol. Maybe the Church, in a rash idea to promote the vocation of marriage, will capture all singles over the age of 21 and put us on an island together. And in order to leave, you would have to marry somebody.Well wherever people are from, there will pro’s and con’s. Sadly there is no Disneyland of good Catholic singles.
Unfortunately, I feel like I’m on Gilligan’s Island. This is a lot longer than a three hour tour…So you aren’t denying that men are shallow? Lol. Some men, sure, as are some women. But I’d rather not focus on that, nor single out any particular subgroup for critique. So you aren’t denying that men are shallow? Lol.
