The world will end with peace, not annihilation, Pope Francis says

I certainly got the impression that Pope Francis was implying that everyone is going to Heaven.
Code:
"It's beautiful to think about this, isn't it, to think about heaven. All of us will be there, all of us. It's beautiful and gives us strength."
Just before that he says, “This is where the church is heading.”
So I think it could be interpreted that he’s talking about all who belong in the Church.
And practice their Faith truthfully and sincerely.
I meant “all who belong in the Church” in as far as God judges who actually does belong in the Church.

Pope St JPII addressed this in a series of Wednesday audiences…

In the context of Revelation, we know that the “heaven” or “happiness” in which we will find ourselves is neither an abstraction nor a physical place in the clouds, but a living, personal relationship with the Holy Trinity. It is our meeting with the Father which takes place in the risen Christ through the communion of the Holy Spirit.

It is always necessary to maintain a certain restraint in describing these “ultimate realities” since their depiction is always unsatisfactory. Today, personalist language is better suited to describing the state of happiness and peace we will enjoy in our definitive communion with God.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church sums up the Church’s teaching on this truth: "By his death and Resurrection, Jesus Christ has “opened’ heaven to us. The life of the blessed consists in the full and perfect possession of the fruits of the redemption accomplished by Christ. He makes partners in his heavenly glorification those who have believed in him and remained faithful to his will. Heaven is the blessed community of all who are perfectly incorporated into Christ” (n. 1026).
  1. This final state, however, can be anticipated in some way today in sacramental life, whose centre is the Eucharist, and in the gift of self through fraternal charity. If we are able to enjoy properly the good things that the Lord showers upon us every day, we will already have begun to experience that joy and peace which one day will be completely ours. We know that on this earth everything is subject to limits, but the thought of the “ultimate” realities helps us to live better the “penultimate” realities. We know that as we pass through this world we are called to seek “the things that are above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God” (Col 3:1), in order to be with him in the eschatological fulfilment, when the Spirit will fully reconcile with the Father “all things, whether on earth or in heaven” (Col 1:20).

Thanks. I note that 676 precludes the post-millennial position. I was wondering if that was still an option.
I don’t know that the Catholic Church teaches about any millennial reign of Christ. It is my understanding that since the Resurrection we are in the thousand year(figurative) reign. The second coming will be at the consummation of this world

Unfortunately, almost all of my understanding of end times comes from my pre-Catholic days. It is probably my weakest area of theology, at least from a Catholic perspective. I appreciate the corrections.

Wouldn’t that depend on what Pope Francis means by “us”: all humans, all good people, all Christians, all Catholics, all who are faithful to the Church, all extra ecclesiam nulla salus, and so on?

“Those who already are living in the presence of God, in fact, can support, intercede and pray for us.”

This is also wonderful especially for those who have babies and children in the certain care of Gods presence. I imagine they are powerfully intercessory!

Nicely said.

CCC 676 condemns millenarianism which is related to liberal new age religious beliefs. An extreme example was the Jonestown massacre. I don’t know if “post-millennial” is the same.

And you shall hear of wars and rumours of wars. See that ye be not troubled. For these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. [7] For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there shall be pestilences, and famines, and earthquakes in places: [8] Now all these are the beginnings of sorrows. [9] Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall put you to death: and you shall be hated by all nations for my name’ s sake. [10] And then shall many be scandalized: and shall betray one another: and shall hate one another.

[11] And many false prophets shall rise, and shall seduce many. [12] And because iniquity hath abounded, the charity of many shall grow cold. [13] But he that shall persevere to the end, he shall be saved. [14] And this gospel of the kingdom, shall be preached in the whole world, for a testimony to all nations, and then shall the consummation come. [15] When therefore you shall see the abomination of desolation, which was spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place: he that readeth let him understand

The quotes I posted are from the catechism. There are at least four regarding the end times and antichrist. The last days do not come until antichrist reigns and the lawless one revealed. Jesus told us what to watch for so we keep vigilance just like the bride waiting for her bridegroom.
Be watchful of one ’ s heart.
Pray as you breathe and truly make an effort to find God in all things.

Yes,and you also be watchful of the world for antichrist will deceive with such lying signs and wonders as to appear to be Jesus Christ. There is nothing wrong with being vigilant as long as you don’t become obsessed with fear.

I did not mean to say " you " as pointing at you , sorry. I should have said Pray as “one” breathes

So then, my beloved, obedient as you have always been, not only when I am present but all the more now when I am absent, work out your salvation with fear and trembling.
Philippians 2:12
