“The Bachelor” is actually still on the air after 15 years despite its being outed as being a completely contrived show.

This is one of the more charitable reviews:
“You are a show so ill-conceived and so demeaning to women that you make Howard Stern look like a feminist.” (New York Post, 25 Mar 2002)

Poor bill nye. Used to love his show and his debate with ken ham. His new show is physically painful to watch

Anything on TLC. I recall a time TLC stood for The Learning Channel. Now it’s all bizarre reality TV

True Blood.
I’ve read the Southern Vampire Mysteries, and True Blood is not worthy of its origins.

Walking Dead.
It started out not so bad but then it became ‘everybody the heroes meet is evil’ combined with zombies chomping on people.

Game of Thrones.
Argh.

Rachel Maddow

Chris Matthews

Al Sharpton

Pretty much anything on MSNBC

I have a friend who worked for TLC (formerly Learning Channel) for some years and one of his jobs involved previewing the new shows that were set to air before they made it to the screen. After he saw “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” for the first time he warned all of us on social media about its impending ghastliness and bemoaned his having to sit through it for his job.
Raises an interesting dilemma.
Does one pick good quality shows, or shows that appeal to people’s baser emotions.
I guess we already know the answer, they pick for ratings. I speculate Honey Boo Boo was popular in a perverse voyeur way.

Honey Boo Boo was so disturbing. The producers of that show were blatantly putting this family on display to be publicly ridiculed.

Actually, (and I know this won’t sit well with others) but MASH. It was a great and funny show when they were trying to win the Korean War. Then Alda and the suits decided they were going to try and win the Nobel Peace Prize, and it degenerated into too much liberal ideology and gumflap for me. I enjoy entertainment that entertains, no proselytize. I actually think it was the beginning of “agenda” TV for the liberal left.

Good article here relating to what you are saying but in regards to the Andy Griffith show…

WWE and other pro wrestling is one of my guilty pleasures… so bad it’s good
My daughter enjoys WWE, so I’ve watched it with her for a few months. One thing I noticed after a few episodes was that it is about the cleanest program on “regular” TV. No swearing, the violence is comical not grisly, and the themes are pro US (no kneeling protests here). Pro wrestling is a much better family venue than the NFL!

Be happy she didnt want to watch 1980s and 90s wwe… not family friendly

Big Bang theory is horrible
As someone who was a female engineer for years before it was trendy, I agree with you 1000%.
My husband watched the show. I couldn’t stand to be in the same room with it.
I think it played up every single Hollywood stereotype about techies, scientists, and their gender relations.
