Anyone know of an online scripture study that groups scripture into themes for study? For example - passages/books on the nature of the Church, nature of the Messiah ect.
I’m particularly interested in what the OT can reveal about the New Covenant.
Any ideas?

That’s an interesting suggestion, to group scripture into such themes. This has been done, as best as I can tell, but I don’t know that it has been formalized and packaged into units of scripture study.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church is organized like that to some extent.

The documents of the Second Vatican Council are organized thematically and are copiously annotated with scripture.

I’m certain that the various branches of theological inquiry are organized this way, but not ncessarily packed into units of scripture study.

Many papal encyclical letters and other documents are quite pointedly thematic and packed with scripture, but not packaged into units of scripture study.

Many books on Catholic spirituality are biblically thematic, but again not likely to be packaged in that way.

The OT/NT thing: at the EWTN website, in the document library, look for the paper from the Pontifical Biblical Institute called “The Jewish People and their Scripture” – that may be of some help to you.

I was at a general bookstore and browsed for a few moments in the Bible section.

Publishers of Protestant Bibles have versions of scripture which they publish under the title of “life application” Bibles, if I remember correctly.

Maybe this is the general idea that you have here. You’re right, you and I might like to see such a study Bible developed in the Catholic Church.

I don’t have even one version of those life application Bibles, but the problem with them might be a cultural bias towards, say, the United States. From a world-wide missionary perspective, the Church developed the Catechism of the Catholic Church as perhaps the closest thing to what you are interested in. It might be remarkable to you to see how culturally independent it is – not completely, of course, because it has to remain true to the values of the true gospel message. But, otherwise, very broadly applicable.

this type of scripture study is called ‘systematic theology’, there are lots of different systematic theologies out there especially in protestantism

for example in print you have
Systematic Theology: Roman Catholic Perspectives (2 vol. set) [Hardcover]
amazon.com/Systematic-Theology-Roman-Catholic-Perspectives/dp/6000118082

or online there is a ton, just google:
“systematic theology online”

eg protestant systematic info at:
monergism.com/directory/link_category/Systematic-Theology/

or Catholic
Summa Theologica by Thomas Aquinas (this has a lot of religious biblical philosophy systematized) check out table of contents to see if that’s what you’re after
newadvent.org/summa/
