It’s pretty simple, James. No retraction means no acknowledgment that there was any libel, and, there was. I’m not holding a grudge, but most people would consider it rude and condescending to offer a person forgiveness for what they are not sorry for.

All I am doing is pointing out the libel. I could report him for violating forum rules, but I’m not. I’m hoping he will recognize the truth and act accordingly. I’m not losing any sleep over this, either. But since you did bring up Agape, I will simply point out that it is uncharitable to see someone sin and fail to admonish them. I am not offended so much as God is. I really couldn’t care less, but for Darryl’s own benefit, he should retract his false statement about me.
Fair enough…but - like you say - we sometimes need to admonish one another, which is what I chose to do.
As I read through the exchange, what I picked up was a lack of charity on both sides.
It’s possible I read too much into things…we are in a limited media…If I did, then I apologize.
The matter was especially disturbing to me as this is a thread about love…Turning the other cheek can go a long way.

Peace
James

I will even go further. I will give you more to shock you, that you can disagree with all you like, but it won’t make a difference to me.

Darryl wrote, “if you valued God so highly. . .”

Forget it. I will throw “God” under the bus, for the sake of Love. It is more important to love than it is to believe in God. And I am a faithful Roman Catholic.

Get your priorities straight! These are dire times, and dire times call for dire measures. Religious differences don’t amount to a hill of beans, compared to the Key and Central Importance of Love. And I am not saying that all religions are the same. All religions are not the same. Catholicism alone is the fullness of truth, all other religions are partially true at best. But priorities are priorities. If you think God is more important than Love, I am here to inform you in no uncertain terms that God disagrees with that priority. God will judge each and every soul on the basis, not of its faith, but of its works. Love, is all that matters. God is Love. So what do you suppose is the basis of that Judgement?
If you throw God under a bus then you are throwing Love under a bus, since you say God’s name is Love. God’s name can’t even be pronounced and He says it means “I Am”.
What gives you the authority to change his name?

Yes, I agree, and your point is well taken. I admit that I did not live up to my ideal earlier in the thread. I was insulted and I took offense. That is not conversationally “turning the other cheek.” I admit that I have a sarcastic streak in me, and my first post to Darryl was sarcastic — not a good first hello. To be honest, he struck me as arrogant, implying directly, as he did, that he has Christ and I do not.

But I can’t answer for him, only for myself, and for myself, I am not going to keep bugging him about it, I’ve said all I had to say about it.

God’s Name in the Old Testament is pronounced Yah-Way. (Yahweh, YHVH, "I am, who Am.)

God’s Name in the New Testament is pronounced Jee-zus (Jesus.) The Name above every other name.

God’s New Name, is LOVE. I didn’t change it, He revealed it to me.

Also, to point out my intent, I didn’t say I would throw God under the bus, I said I would throw “God” under the bus. A subtle distinction, I know, but what I mean is the term, which is loaded with all sorts of connotations and which many do not think signifies anything real. I believe God is real and I believe He is Love; however, there are many, who do believe in Love and who do love, who really aren’t convinced there is any such being as “God.”

So if I had to make an either/or decision, between either saying the words, “I believe in God. . ,” or actually participating in the giving and the receiving of Love, I would, hands down, choose the latter. Nothing takes precedence over Love. If it were possible that God were different than Love, I would have to fight against God and all belief in God for the sake of Love. As it is, I do not believe that to be possible, because I believe that God is Love. Thus, please take my words in that other post the way I meant them. I am actually trying to wake people up here. Not that all or even most are asleep, particularly on this forum, but there are some that are, and it is time to wake up!
