Please read over my post again and make a sincere effort to connect the dots.
I’ve read your posts, Pax. None of the Scriptures you present teach that men are ever “freed from committing sin.” Those verse state that the true believer, now in Christ, is free from the
power of sin in one’s life. Free from the enslavement of sin. It’s what separates the believer from the unbeliever still dead (spiritually) in Adam.
No Apostle ever taught that a believer is “
freed from committing sin,” but instead John write:1 John 2:1-2 "My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin (IOW,
they’re not slaves to sin). And if anyone sins (IOW,
sinning is still a reality), we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; and
He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for {those of} the whole world."The
propitiatory sacrifice of Christ
judicially dealt with ALL the believer’s sins, once for all.
I have adequately pointed out to you the Apostolic doctrine which clearly states that the true believer has died with Christ who (as our Substitute) died unto/to sin (
our imputed sins to Him), through His vicarious death on the cross, once for all, and the true believer,
positionally, died with Him and was, subsequently, raised to new life with/in Him:Col 3:1-3 “Therefore if (since) you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth.
For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.”
Eph 2:4-10 "But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions,
made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),
and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly {places} in Christ Jesus, so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, {it is} the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them."The Apostolic teaching is:Rom 6:7 “…for he who
has died is freed from sin.”
Rom 6:18 “…and having been
freed from sin, you became slaves of righteousness.”
Rom 6:22 "But now having been
freed from sin and enslaved to God, you derive your benefit, resulting in sanctification, and the outcome (which is immediate), eternal life."Not at all “
freed from committing sin.” One would have to be free from this yet unredeemed body for that reality to occur - which is a future reality (Phil. 2:20-21).
The true believer is no longer in Adam, but now in the risen Christ (the “Last Adam”), who died “
to sin” (our sins) once for all and was raised to new life (
and we with Him). That’s why Paul could confidently write:Rom 8:1 “Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”
