I live in Canada, and we laugh at America for being the only developed nation with no nationalized health care. If the Stupak amendment is not in the bill, then okay, oppose the bill. But the very idea of wanting a system where only the rich can have health care is ludicrous.

And how does this not support dignity and life? If you ask me, supporting America’s current health care system is not right anti-life because only the rich can afford health care and insurance companies always screw you in the end and won’t cover your costs. That, my friend, is the definition of death panels.

A majority of bankruptcies in America are due to health care costs and a majority of those people were insured. In Canada, there are no bankruptcies due to health care costs. Nor are there any in the UK, Germany, France, Switzerland, or any other developed nation because all of them except America have nationalized health care. America may have the best quality, but has a terrible coverage system.

I usually do not post on this particular section but had to reply to Gift from God’s very uninformed, misconceived ideas on the American health care system. **It is simply not true that only the wealthy can get health care in the US. ** Even the poorest of the poor can and do get treatment in any and all hospital emergency rooms. It is required by law. There are also many free clinics in the US where doctors voluteer their time. There are also numerous cancer treatment centers that accept all patients and do not require payments from the poor or uninsured. The so called poor also have government assistance through our medicaid program. The US has the highest cancer and heart disease survival rates of any country in the world due to early detection and treatment since any one living here can and does get treatment regardless of their ability to pay.

So Canada and the rest of the world stop believing the lies and gross exagerations the current US administration is trying to pass off as gospel truth. They are just trying force legistation down the throats of the citizens of this country (73%oppose this bill) to further their socialist totalitarian take over of all aspects of American life. Most if not all in Congress have not even read the bill, which is 2700 pages long, and will not know what is in it when they vote on it.

Why do you think the Democrats are excluding union members from the “Cadillac plan” tax? Because so many of them HAVE those plans, that’s why.

By and large, the larger the company, the better the program. The very best company program in this town, anyway, is the one a software designer company has. The next best is that of a poultry processor.

The least desirable plans are usually the ones small businesses have, because small businesses can’t band together to get purchasing power. But that’s because of the laws of the various states.

I can tell you right now a lot of them are Mexicans or central Americans. They go there for healthcare all the time because it costs about 1/3 as much or less, and because a lot of them just don’t believe in American medicine. Besides, you can buy any prescription drug there over the counter for far less than you can here.

My apologies, I should have checked what I wrote.

I understand that it’s mandatory that people receive treatment, but the fact of the matter is people just can’t afford surgeries. I’ve heard of cases where it costs $60,000 to replace the tip of a finger. If you want to have that system for yourself because you can afford it, God bless, go forward. But don’t tell those people who are mortgaging their homes or losing their life savings that they have to pay for operations because of a freak accident or illness.

73% of Americans oppose the current bill. Even I oppose it. It does not help the little man in my opinion, and if it had the single payer option or the public option with the Stupak Amendment attached, I would support it. A CNN poll showed 65% of American’s support the public option. With all these changes to the bill, it’s no wonder Obama’s approval rating is going lower and lower.

I also take offense to you calling Canada “socialist” and “totalitarian”. We are a democratic nation with a Prime Minister you might support. To my knowledge, he has no intention on adding abortion to the annual health care plan and he seems to be one heck of a nice guy.

Canada is not a totalitarian nation. In places like North Korea or China, you can’t criticize the government and there are no real political rivals. Here, we have the freedom to criticize the government. Right now, thousands of Canadians are voicing their concern over the proposed euthanasia bill.

A completely socialist nation will never work, but a completely capitalist system can’t work either. The system works if the two intertwine.

You also know nothing about health care in the US!!! Contary to what you obviously want to believe no-one is dying in the streets or not get the care that they need because they can not afford it. Nobody is loosing their housing either because heath care costs. As I said earlier that is a totally separate issue.

And no I do not have loads of money. On the contary, I have been unemployed for more than three years and have one else to support me. There is a lot of charity and government assisted heathcare in this country already.

Gift from God, you have no proof that your figures are correct since it was an extrapolated study . According to the article that figure is highly debatable. Also both the “news media” and academia in the United States are largely in Obama’s pocket and will say anything that furthers his agenda. I know a lot of poor people and low income elderly people who have gotten excellent life saving health care in the US at little or no cost to them.

Again you are woefully ignorant of conditions in my country. This is my last post on this thread since I no longer wish to argue with someone so closed minded. BTW, I am NOT a dude!
