I agree. Anyone know?Who is in charge of booking the Artists for this event – who is the liaison officer for the Vatican? This piece ought to be sent to him.
What was that episode? If we get enough people writing perhaps we can avoid another Lauryn Hill (sp?) episode.

Can’t thank you enough for that – I sent a “hotmail” (pardon the pun). It’s ludicrous – when I think of our diocese and all the fine Hispanic musicians who can do everything, salsa, Hispanic standards, and those wonderful trumpets and soloists, not to mention marichi’s wowee!!! – and these guys get the nod. Good grief. Here is the official website for WYD as far as I know: wjt2005.de/index.php?id=6&si=1 I clicked on “contact” and sent them an email asking to remove this band if the reporting is indeed accurate. If we get enough people writing perhaps we can avoid another Lauryn Hill (sp?) episode.

Back a year or so ago, Lauryn Hill performed for the at some Vatican event I can’t recall and she went off on a little mini-tirade about the Church in the traditions-of-men vein. The press of course lapped it up.What was that episode?
I don’t think we can necessarily label them anti-Catholic based on the few quotes from the article. It certainly is possible. From this quote:I sent an email - what these people have to say is despicable.
How could they possibly have been given a platform for spreading their anti-Catholicism at WYD??![]()
If they had said Catholics were definately not Christians, they would be anti-Catholic. Still, they have no place at WYD.“We are followers of Christ beyond any specific identity. You can define yourself as a Catholic and be…I don’t know… Today we have a Pope who in theory represents the entire Church. Nevertheless, there are those who say this is not the case. Therefore, why divide Jesus even more when in reality He came for all of mankind? Religion is responsible for creating these differences.”
Ack! They’re those “I have no religion” type guys! Yes, let’s hide the parts of the Truth other people don’t like so we can get along . Why not hide it all so we can all get along. Kumbaya!“We are followers of Christ beyond any specific identity. You can define yourself as a Catholic and be…I don’t know… Today we have a Pope who in theory represents the entire Church. Hehe. To us, the non-denom thing sounds like the biggest dodge in the world, but people really think there is such a thing–as if a bible falls from the sky, they read it and the Trinity and Sola Scriptura spontaneously forms in their head.Ack! I’m mostly going by the negative tone in H_S’s post about the Pope - rigidity, political more than spiritual, etc. - in my mind, if you’re anti-Pope, you’re anti-Catholic.I don’t think we can necessarily label them anti-Catholic based on the few quotes from the article. It certainly is possible.
Point taken. I use Dave Armstrong’s (well, at least the guy I got it from) definition of anti-Catholic which is either:I’m mostly going by the negative tone in H_S’s post about the Pope - rigidity, political more than spiritual, etc. - in my mind, if you’re anti-Pope, you’re anti-Catholic.
And how the heck did they make it onto the lineup with views like that, in the first place?![]()
