Has the whole world gone mad? This is the third relic stolen over the past few months in Ireland - who would they sell the relics to, what worth are they to anyone? A practicising christian is not going to buy them and would report or return same, so who else would be interested in a 1000 yr old heart? It really does beggar belief, unless it is some anti-christian cult that is stealing the relics.

Here’s hoping the saints themselves will tend to their relics…With the help of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

May the Blessed Virgin Mary, pierced with a sword of sorrow that the thoughts of all may be revealed, expose all thoughts, especially exposing the whereabouts of the stolen relics of Christ’s holy saints, that they may be safely restored to their places of veneration; all for God’s honor and glory. AMEN

Oy! Catholiciana collecting may be the motive. These are museum pieces, and it grieves me to see reliquaries in the local museum. May God see that the relics are restored. That’s all we can ask.

This never occurred to me until you mentioned it. A satanic cult perhaps?

Possibly, as no ‘christian’, particularly catholic person would steal or buy such relics. Either that or they are so drug crazed they think they’ll make money from the relics - however it they were that drug crazed, i doubt they would have had the gumption to carry out the theft in the first place. It does seem a bit bizarre, gold or percious implements from the church that could be melted down could be sold, but relics?

Then why did they have the heart of a Catholic saint?
I have no idea. Probably something to do with the Reformation in Ireland. But Christ Church is the Cathedral of the Anglican Church of Ireland. There is no Catholic cathedral in Dublin, only what they call a pro Cathedral.
